Do yourself a favor and spend the bucks for VB software, and a domain name. Amateur level sites have a horrible success rate. You don't simply throw up a cheap and simple forum and have it take off. You'll need to do it better than the other sites do. Just some advice.

a friend of mine wanted to start a forum and make ALL this money from "sponsors" etc. I told him the same thing... the business model needs to be a better format than the others to attract members. You might want to learn some Photoshop & have some understanding of PHP, HTML, XHTML, XML or some experience with database management to run a "NICE" site.
http://www.planetlsx.com/ is the best looking, well formatted site that, not only offers a forum, but also offers some nice mod/install write-up's and real-world product testing.
I have no ties to http://www.planetlsx.com/ but if there is an opening for a designer, or ANY position, over there and a compensation plan my resume is ready.

I'm just joshin' Joe I'm sure your mudbug boil is awesome. I'll be attending the next one btw. Thanks for the compliments to Rae and the ride. I'm sure they'll both appreciate it when I tell them.
As for this new forum thing, Joe and Tony are right on. Although I've never had the pleasure to meet Tony personally, his credentials are well known. I've known Joe for the better part of 10 years and he's one of the best graphics designers, web page developers and software/hardware solution experts in the biz. If they have advice to give, I'd listen.

I believe the real reason for the site is just a mutual site for some of the racers of Houston to call each other out regardless of club/forum/group your from. and we can all agree the scene has been kinda dead lately.
