I would drive one first. Heard they don't get that much better milage over the 5.0 and they have a boost lag issue off the line (they may have fixed this). Everyone I've talked to says the 5.0 drives much better. I would also wait for GM to release their specs on the direct injection v8's first.

Other than that, it does look promising. I'll be in the market next year around this time, and both the 5.0 and ecoboost are in consideration.

I deleted it because it was poorly written and contained no hard facts. Basically I was trying to point out that the 5.0>Ecoboost.

Those trucks are NICE, and the ecoboost is great for a truck with a stock tune. Over 400 tq around 2500 rpm is great. I drove 1 the other day. I'm going to buy one.

I am happy Ford that ecoboost has 400tq, but diesel has the best tq in a truck...of all time.

You ever notice how fat chicks are always bragging they got big ****? Kinda like some one with a junk yard bragging they got a lot of cars. Yeah, the volume is a lot, but it's nothing any one wants to be seen in or with.

Fyi, wait a model year. I have two sitting in our back lot with less than 2000 clattering like a thrown rod. We havent gotten tear down approval from ford yet to really know whats going on with them yet.

I'm going to look into that some. You sure it isn't an injector? I'd be interested in hearing a follow up. I read where another guy had "knocking," but it turned out to be an injector. With direct injection they have 2200psi fuel pressure. Whole different animal.

No idea, it sounds like rod knock. But it could be injector. I havent talked to our techs about it in a few days. I wouldnt think it would knock at idle because of an injector.

I agree, but direct injection is new to me so I only know what I've read. I'm referencing this thread.

I doubt they will, ford authorized a short block. So its on its way, the current one will be reassembled out of the truck and sent back to ford.

You mentioned 2. Did they both spin them?

The second part had nothing to do with trucks, the fact you saw **** and thought of an ecoboost confirms dicks is your first language.

dont be fooled by ford's marketing and sales presentations......

they advertise 165,000 mi. of "torture" but yet 150,000 of that was cruising freely on an engine dyno

yeah they ran it through the rev range on the engine dyno but i promise you it spent 99% of the time cruising

ALSO, you have to question why they put it on an engine dyno?!?! because the truck wouldn't hold up!!! i bet the transmission wouldn't hold up!!! as well as many other parts!!!

so in actuality the "truck" just got 15,000 miles of testing...... the engine got 165,000 and 150,000 of that was cruising on an engine dyno

if you wanna see a real "torture" test watch the tundra deconstructed videos

its takes the "whole" truck and test it...... you can see how the transmission held up towing goose neck trailers with 14,000 lbs of cattle in the 120 degree west texas summer...... you can see how the suspension held up driving on rough dirt roads...... you get to see how the entire truck held up as a work truck on a cattle ranch for 100,000 miles

This is also good for those of us who use our truck to drive up narrow metal ramps with flames shooting at us
