Default Quick question about rear brake

On my dd 2000 Elcipse, the rear brake is leaking brake fluid. Its to the point where it drains it all out in about 2 days. Anyway, just removed the wheel and I cant seem to tell where its leaking from. The line is secure and not dripping anywhere. It almost seems like its leaking from inside the brake. Has anyone experinced the same problem? Also, Is it just one brake line or are there 2? Thanks in advance.

get a buddy to step on the pedal while you look. if its leaking out that fast, you'll see it

Turns out that its the cylinder that was leaking on one end. We replaced it with a new one, but its leaking out more then before when we tap on the brakes. The rubber seals on the side actually come off of the cylinder. The old one wasnt doing this. Did I miss a step when installing the new one?

If you press on the brake pedal with out the drum on, it will push the pistons and seals out. You need to stick the drum on about half way to where you can still see the wheel cylinder and have some one push on the pedal.

like what cambirdracing said, if you press the brakes with the drum off, the shoes have nothing to hit against and the wheel cylinder will pop the seals off if you hit the brakes too hard. chances are that wheel cylinder is still good. just slip the seals back on and install the drum and you should be good

Thank you both for your replies. I talked to a mechanic buddy and he said the same thing. We were testing it with the drum off. Well once we put everything back together, we messed something up because now the brake is locked up. The car wont even roll foward. cambirdracing, im sending you a pm now, I live in Dickinson.

If anyones in the Dickinson area and can fix this, Im willing to pay cash. I dont feel like having the vehicle towed to the mechanic, especially if its something simple. I just dont have that much car knowledge. Thanks in advance.
