You have to remember, all humans sin. If god didn't forgive, everyone would be ban from heaven. It's hard for the churches to collect money if nobody shows up. So he hands out get out of jail free cards. Do whatever horrible thing your would like. Like kill and entire church full of people worshiping, as long as you say your sorry and ask for forgiveness you can get back in line for heaven.
