Default BULL SHARK I caught last night off my pier at Sportsman's Road. PICS INSIDE!

Well the winds let up enough for me to take a few guests fishing last night. There was a ton of bait in the water but we only managed to catch a few trout, a flounder, and a sting ray. I cut a big bloody, gutty chunk of the sting ray on and chunked him out far on the outside of my lights on my surf rod and 3 hours later (4:00 a.m.) this bull took off with it. Nice 20-25 min fight. Shark went 5'6'' and I estimated he was between 100-135 lbs. Fishing should be heating up here soon. Enjoy..

Thanks for the compliments guys. He's not the first one I've caught off my pier that's for sure. What's scary is how many people wade fish (including myself) right by where I caught him. Oh well I guess its one of those things a lot of us wade fishermen know about but don't talk about. I've got a side bet with a buddy of mine that I will put one on the pier over six feet by this summer. I guess we'll see!

nice shark! we caught 2 3' black tips and one 3.5' bull in clear lake last summer.

I've been trying the beach based, kayak bait out, shark fishing, but I only manage to get out there at bad times and have never had any interest in my bait hopefully I'l get hooked up with a 6+ footer next time

Man, catching sharks makes me not like fresh water fishing, there is no fight like a shark to me.

Buy a smaller pole, you do not need a surf rod to go bass fishing...

I'm not much of a fresh water guy myself, no offense. But to me there's not much comparison.

Don't get me wrong, I fish all waters. I live off Lake Houston and you live off the bay. I would rather saltwater fish but in the evening I can be on the lake in 2 minutes and it's over an hour to the bay from my house.

Nice shark! Still jealous you have that nice pier lol.

Me and a buddy went wadefishing under a light late last week right off Todville in Seabrook (didn't know whose pier it was lol), and caught nothing but 12" specs/sandies and friggin ribbon fish... I definitely try not to think about the sharks lol. We took the boat to the jetties last week also, hoping for a friendly wind direction but didn't get it, and it was rockin and rollin somethin nasty. Couldn't make it to the end of either jetty in our 21ft skeeter so we tried sea wolf park and the causeway/RR tracks. Only came back with a spec, black drum, and a few sheepshead, terrible..

Ya man the winds have been non stop and ruthless lately. U just have to really monitor the weather a couple times a day and get out there when the wind allows. Causeway and Virginia point have really been producing some nice trout for me and a few buddys here lately. Gonna try and hit it up this week.
