bought me a fake hugger ss......fml

Sorry to hear this OP, but I'm just totally floored that you never checked the RPO codes on the door sticker before buying. If I were looking for an LS1 Camaro SS, I would require a nice clear picture of the door sticker before I would waste much time talking to the seller, and not even think about driving out to look at the car before verifying the RPO code.
You seem hung up on calling SLP. Why? It has been posted again, and again, and again: check the RPO codes on the door sticker. WU8 = SS no WU8 = NOT an SS. It's that simple when talking about an LS1-era Camaro SS.
If you look at a door sticker and something doesn't look right... if it looks like the sticker is not legit... then go to a site like compnine.com and type in the VIN. See if that VIN belongs to a car that carries the SS WU8 code.
For someone who was specifically looking for an SS, you failed to do basic research. I don't mean to be harsh, but now you know what to do in the future. This dude who sold it as an SS should man up and take the car back since it was sold under false pretenses.

I know the OP is on our local board and I don't mean to rub too much salt in the wound. He's probably already kicking himself. We all make mistakes, but I just believe in research before forking over my hard-earned cash.
If anyone needs to be kicked in the teeth, it is the seller who sold it as an SS while knowing it was not.

I've never owned a Z28 or SS, but I would think the title would just say Camaro - I mean I don't recall any of my WS6's every having that on the title, they just said Trans Am IIRC (not looking at it obviously)

I agree with the statement, but has anybody brought up the fact that on the title it probable says "Camaro Z-28" no SS ? I mean seriously, do your research before you drop that kind of cash on a "Rare Car". Regradless its still a kick *** ride. Good luck with modding !!

This is a perfect example of why I think anyone that puts "SS" emblems on their non-SS car, they are assclowns. Especially those that scam people like this guy, selling the car as a real SS. Those simple decals/RPO's/hood/spoiler DO add value and resale, which is why scammers add them.
Be careful out there guys, always check your VIN# and door decals. That is what they are there for, to help prove authenticity.

Nathan sold you that car knowing it was not a real SS I originally owned the car. I put the oem SS hood and spoiler from a totaled hoss on it, that is why it matches so well. The car was originally an all option auto Z28 with tan leather interior. You do not own a SLP done SS, but the car had everything from the HOSS transferred to it. I aggree he mislead you. Here are some other pics from the 6 years I owned it.

**** happens.... People pass off clones and fakes all the time its nothing new .. People have been doing it since the 60's ... If you get jipped now days its your own fault there are plenty of resources out there to verify these things.. Sorry about your luck OP lesson learned.

Just goes to show do your research! VIN#'s don't lie. When we were looking at our HOSS we called SLP and verified that it was a reall SLP HOSS before we took the trip from Alabama to Ohio to pick up the car, believe me pictures are worth NOTHING, you should always see and drive in person what you are buying esp when it comes to cars. No one has your best interests at heart but you.
I would rock that Hugger Z any day. The SS's are becoming harder and harder to find, and if you find one the price is up there unless it's a roller or something like that. The car looks great though, not cool that you were mislead but you just can't trust anyone now a days. Hugger Orange anything is a great color on the F body.

well ever since i started liking cars there has been certain cars that i will say i would like to own,one of those cars is a 1999 hardtop,m6,hugger orange,ss.
i finally came across one on the boards in the classifieds about 2 years ago, https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicle-c...-15-000-a.html so i talked to the buyer seemed straight up honest guy,so i drove to deer park,tx see the ultimate production 4th gen in my eyes.boy was it everything i expected and more.i was ready to buy but a title issue came up so i had to wait on my dream car,so i waited bout 3weeks checking in periodically to check on the title and nothing.so i said screw it im not waiting any longer i need another lil project and bought me a white hardtop 6spd z28.well time goes by i sell the white z,pick up a sonic blue cobra, mod it sell it.then after i sold my cobra i needed another project car.......so i had a bright idea, maybe just maybe he still has the hoss.so i contact him here via pm.that was around early february 2011 now and BAM he still has but his ucle currently owns it but its for sale.so again we talk and we arrang a date so i could come see it agian.man was i so happy,so happy,i make sure to ask about title situation and its a good title and its in his position.so i get the vin to verify everything, carfax, slp, but being so excited/busy/dealing with maybe honest seller i just never took the time to call slp, dumbest move ever.....fml
here we go again driving to deer park tx,this time im bringing my baby home.my god i see the car again, granted its been 2 years so im ******* super excited like sex for the 2nd time, you know 1st time a lil scarry.car runs good, etc, lets make this happen,so i buy the car, drive it all the way to san marcos,tx
well a couple months go buy and i rarely drive my cars so it sits in the garage and then i run into a thread in the limited edition section https://ls1tech.com/forums/special-e...y-2-built.html and gets me thinking about hardtop ss m6 with hugger orange paint getting chrome zr1s.hmm maybe my car is one of the few with chrome zr1s so i go to the garage and look for the options from slp, dang no slp stickers on passanger door or driver door, so a little doubt comes in,so i check the codes on door and look for wu8,and nothing.....sob sets in but maybe just maybe theres hope so i call slp and give them my vin #.it was a female and she says nope its not one of our cars ,she then replies well lets try again and once again no sir its not in our registry, sorry.damn felt like i was punched in the gut!
after that happened i got to thinking well atleast its a hugger orange z28 hardtop 6speed and it looks like an ss.i tried to like my car now and i just cant so i call slp one more time on 5/23/11 just to verify my stupidity and again its not a real ss,damn so it finally got thru in my head that this is not my dream 4th gen.
somewhere along the line of owners someone knew it wasnt a real ss cause obviously someone cloned it and sold it and screwed someone over and that person knew it or maybe not, anyways i got the short end of the stick now and its gonna be posted for sale as ss clone and clearly put its not a real ss so this does not happend to another person.im selling this car now cause i dont want two z28s,and im gonna get me another car that ive always wanted a 89-93 notchback, roll up windows prefered, white.

Not to be a jerk but does it really matter. If u had never looked up the numbers you would have never been upset. Now that said not knowing and paying too much is bull ****. But now that it's yours and it's clean as hell who really cares. I have a cloned ss and a real ss and once you modify it it's not an ss anyway. Enjoy the car and don't stay hung up numbers

RE: Carfax - I use Autocheck that has a buyback guarantee - I'd recommend them so even if you do get a messed up car like Hustle mentioned, you aren't out money for it.
RE: Fake HOSS... I would make a copy of the ad and take him to small claims court for misrepresenting the product. He sold it as a real HOSS when he knew it was a Z28. That's just my opinion - I'm not a lawyer

Like I posted in the thread above, Im converting mine to an SS. I know it will be a clone, big deal. Besides you cant get hung up on the "fake" ss, your engine is modified. If it actually was 1 of 2 cars made, it would have to be bone stock to really hold the value of a 1 of 2 car.
