WTF! Is anyone as pissed as I am about the lockout? I want to see some damn training camp footage already!!!

What are you all's thoughts on the lockout? And has anyone heard anything that seems like they are even remotely close to coming to an agreement? I lost interest in the whole thing a few months back...

WTF!!!

Don't care, bunch of over-paid prima donnas who don't care whatsoever about the fans and only their paychecks. I don't feel the owners are totally right but the players are being ridiculous IMO. I also haven't paid attention to it lately.

From what I understand and have read, it's the owners trying to **** the players over, not the players being greedy. The owners tried to use the death of the previous NFLPA President to their advantage and to take the Players from making over 50% of the NFL profit to nearly 40% while making them play more games. They tried to sell the notion that teams weren't making any money, but then refused to open up their books to prove it.

The owners should make more of the money. Its their business, their money, their risk. As much money as the players are making playing a game, no matter what they have to settle on I would hardly say they would get "ripped off".

With that said, I think both sides are stupid. Its billionaires fighting with millionaires over money. And they are both lobbying for the support of us normal folk. Gimmie a break!

We need to just get them to start playing again ... I'm sick of seeing the headlines of the news being dominated by nfl players being thrown in jail.

In what other career choice is the employee entitled to demand any amount of the employers profits? Im tired of hearing that the Owners need to hand over more money... anyone here try to demand 50% of your employers profits and watch what happens.

Im sorry but all this is over a game... A GAME. We have teachers getting fired, police officers getting fired and of course people complain if taxes go up to help pay those teachers and police officers. YET we all are sitting here wishing that the owners and players come to some sort of agreement on the millions of dollars that they stand to make all the while paying over $100 for a jersey, $10 burgers, $9.50 beers, $7 bag of peanuts (has anyone ever walked away from a venue without spending over $50 at a game.. ticket not included) and all sorts of the severely over priced goods at a sporting event.

Hogwash I say.

This is so sad. I think they should all get a base salary based on their position, then give them performance bonuses per game. If they dont like it then they can get a real job. I dont know what I would do if I was only making 4 million a year to play football, I would not be bitching about wanting to make 5 million. Plus I think college football seniors should be paid as well but thats just me.

Technically, you do get "paid" for playing collegiate sports; they pay for your education (which in some schools is extremely expensive). I played at WTAMU for two years and when they disbursed your scholarship funds and it exceeded the amount to pay your tuition and fees, the remainder would be mailed to you in a check. I was receiving financial aid on top of the scholarship, so I would always receive a check for each semester.

The only ones who don't receive anything, are walk-ons, since there is a limit on how many scholarships a team can award. Some are full ride, and some are partial.

Some of you guys really don't seem to understand - the players aren't employees... they're contractors and they have ALWAYS been entitled to more than 50% of the profits - the Owners are trying to lessen that amount. This isn't like you going to your boss and demanding a raise; to try and make that correlation is asinine.

And no - the Owners aren't taking "all the risk" - the Owners may have some of the financial risks, but the players are the ones risking their lives and well being. Not to mention this isn't the NBA where the contracts are guaranteed - if they get injured then they don't get paid anything over what was guaranteed in their contract (usually less than half the total on the high end and 0% on the low end).

Also - ignore the gross amount of money - They do something at such a high level, that they're one of only a few hundred people in the world able to do it at that level... when you cultivate your skill set to a point that you do it better than 99.9% of the people in the country, then you can start talking about how ridiculous the players are for not wanting to take a pay cut.

People want to blame the players, but they didn't start this - they didn't opt out of hte previous CBA (Owners did) - the players weren't negotiating in poor faith years prior to the pending end of the CBA (Owners were) and it wasn't the players who were demanding more of the pie (it was the Owners.)

I started out like most of you guys - very pro-Owners (usually pro-business anyway) but I was naive and when I did my research and educated myself on what was actually going on, I realized that it was the Owners who were causing this.

It'll be great to go a season without hearing local Clownboy fans whining about another horrible season.

The players are greedy and so are the owners. I can't believe people are stupid enough to pay what Jerry asks for Cowboy tickets.

In the end it doesn't matter. They will just raise ticket prices again.

I agree with most of what has been said above.

Wouldn't it be a shame if when the lockout is all said and done the fans were uninterested and put a strain on both side's pocketbooks.

Plain and simple, they are entertainers and they are arguing over who should get the bigger portion of the pie we pay in to be entertained. I'm a huge football fan but if there was a way to channel half of the money the NFL (players and owners) make towards the people responsible for teaching my kids and protecting my family (military, fire, and police) I'd be all for it.

Somebody brought up the UAW which really set off a light bulb. The UAW is a union made up of blue collar workers making a product almost everyone needs not just providing our fantasy teams with rosters and something to do on Sundays.

I for one am about fed up with the professional sports "business" BS.
