Default T56 guys

Does everyone have issues with shifting from 2nd to 3rd. When i shift normal it does fine, but when i try to speed shift like when im racing third gear is not there. The gear shift finds its spot but the motor has to slow down before you hear it trying to go in. You have to press the clutch in again before it grabs third. I just got it out of the shop and the problem is better but not as good as I think it should be. Any info would be great thanks. Its a 94 lt1 383.

I know on an LS car the slave cylinder doesn't build enough pressure to quick shift like that or something like that......buncha guys switch to an LS7 cylinder......might try an LT4 Slave Cylinder?????

Hmm so it may be the slave cylinder? It doesnt give me trouble in any other gear, just when Im trying to jam it in third.

yeah, IIRC it doesn't hold enough pressure at high RPMs when shifting fast, maybe someone more informed will chime in....

Sounds like a syncro to me. If it was hydraulic related then it would do it in all gears.

Ok, well i just had the tranny pulled and new syncros put in and a new third gear. Like i said it helped but still doing it. I guess im just going to take it back to the shop.Im going to drive it for a while and see if it gets better or maybe i can just see if there is a trick to shifting it. Going to the racetrack Saturday to see what it will do. Cant wait!!!

please excuse my ignorance but didi you do the drill mod to your clutch line
if you only have a problem shifting into 3rd or 4th this might be the issue

Drill mods aren't an issue on the LT1 cars. What kind of clutch do you have in the car? Do you have an aftermarket shifter? Have you checked the fluid in the master cylinder to make sure you don't have a seal or something going bad making the fluid black?

I haven't had a problem yet but the trick for me is to keep checking on the clutch fluid and make sure its clean as a whistle, havent had any missing 3rd problems yet.

Sounds like a bent 3-4 shift fork. LT1 hydraulics aren't very problematic like LS1's are. If your only issue is the 2-3 shift, and the synchro was already replaced, then I'd say its a bent fork.

Mine does something smilar except my clutch pedal stays at the floor I have to pull it up with my toes. If I luanch it hard the clutch will stay at the floor even though the clutch is engaged, if I baby it off the line then run it through 1st and shift into second then it wont shift into 3rd again clutch pedal is stuck to the floor. If im just cruising down the freeway and drop to 4th and run through 4th gear it will be stuck at the floor. Hell when you try to luanch it hard the clutch is constantly trying to release faster it eventualy just rekeases itself I really hate the clutch in my car ive tried bleeding it didnt really help I guess I need to do the drill mod and see what that does as of right now I just baby it!

When I first bought my T/A, I swapped all fluids and put too much fluid back in the trans. When I was taking buddies for a ride, they all thought I couldn't drive because I could never get 3rd gear in while WOT. I drained it and put the proper amount of fluid back instead of filling it up til it starts pouring out of the fill hole. That worked for me and may not be your problem, but it's worth a shot!

I would lean toward a hydraulic issue. I have a T56 in my 94Gt and can hit 3rd gear @ 6000 rpms no problem at all. I have a fire wall adjuster on it and have the cable adjusted right on the money.

Wow thanks for all the support. The car has the Centerforce duel clutch set up. I will check the fluid and see where its at.

i got the fiore firewall adjuster and clutch quadrant. that helped me a bit. then my tranny took a **** and since it got rebuilt, it's been better. i still **** up the 2-3 shift probably once every 8-10 tries if im on it.

i had brass fork sliders, billet keys, and a brass shifter bushing put in. shifting my tranny feels like cocking a rifle now

Yes, we all know you like to argue semantics...

Needless to say, it's possible the fork is OP's issue.
