Truthfully paying $650 a month and running 12.2 with headers/intake/stall and dr none of which are cheap for this car, wasnt cutting it for me. Im going back to a 4th gen next year. Traded my car in for what I owed on it. I ate $4k.

Because they expect to beat pre-LS3 cars and end up chasing tail lights...

Only thing im getting rid of mine for is a 09+ CTS-V and that day is getting closer and closer.......The car itself is fairly comfortable compared to previous versions of GM products. I can see the complaints people make but the only thing the coyote mustang has on the SS is performance, everything else I would swing to the camaro, looks, interior, build, ride quality.

And um what exactly are Camaros running at the same track/conditions?

The 5.0 is generally the faster car all things equal. They're quick, fun, and nice cars as long as you don't get a piece of **** manual trans in the factory defect lotto.

I have a 2011 2SS. Yes they have a blind spot. Problem for driving not at all. They have these wonderfull things called mirrors. Adjust them correctly and you can see just fine. As for the new stang well the stock ones I have seen at the track the last month or two have run 13.90 to 13.40.

The fastest bone stock 5th gen so far that I know of is a 12.58 @ 110mph. We bought a SLP 2002 SS with a lid and Drag radials best time was a 12.98.
The fastest 4th gen was stock that I have seen was a 12.57.

Here is the bone stock Fast list from Camaro 5

Guys complaining about blind spots in a hotrod.... I hear there is a Tampax dispenser option available.

Viper coupe has way worse blind spots than my Camaro, but I'm not gonna cry about that.

5th gens do everything better than a 4th gen, when comparing stock vs stock. They are bigger, but they still perform identical to a 4th gen. They are just a lot better car inside/out. Some don't like the appearance, but looks are subjective/opinion.

Thought I saw a post where your car turned a nice number bone stock?

Unless your CTS is modded you won't be beating a 2010 Mustang GT.

The 2010-2012 Camaro SS still looks sweet but just a bit to expensive for the 2SS with options. Saw a few 1SS Camaros for like $34,000.

No kidding. My wife daily drives the '11 Camaro convertible, and it has an even smaller rear window and huge C-pillars. It is called learning how to use mirrors properly. If you set them correctly, you won't have blind spots. Here is a hint, if you can see any part of your own vehicle in the side mirrors, they are set WRONG.

SLV WS6, my '10 coupe went 13.0 bone stock. In better weather, I'm sure 12.8-12.9 would have been possible. They only use 3 gears going down the track, pretty easy to run them stock. The main limitation is the 275 wide Pirelli tires, which aren't too good at the track.

Nowadays, if you want a payment to resemble even close to what a new car payment was back in 2001-2002, your looking at having to throw down at least 10K-15K for a down payment.

Honestly, I couldn't stomach a grand a month for a new Camaro. They are great cars, but not 1K a month great, especially in this economy.

That's why I love my little ES300. Its indestructible and cheap to operate.

Starting to sound like some good info. Might be interested in buying a 2010 -2012 Camaro SS soon.

Sounds like a huge downgrade going back to a old 4th gen.

You must be racing the 6cyl lt/ls cars . Ive had plenty of pre ls3 cars chase my tailights.

Never any issues with blind spots in my car. Just seems that someone here always has to find something to bitch about. Reminds me of the lt1 guys hating on ls motors when they came out.

It is a downgrade in luxury and safety **** that I dont want in my car. If they made the 5th gen without 27 airbags, 20" wheels, 14" brakes, IRS, and dropped some weight it would be a great car. Tell me why my CTS comes stock with aluminum control arms and better suspenion then GMs 2nd tier performance car. The camaro gets the same heavy stamped **** quality? GTFO GM. that should be the other way around.

Oh and limp dick the auto with less hp? Thanks.

I could give a **** about blind spots, the car just fails as a performance car for the $$$.

5 years down the road, Im sure they will seem like a better bargin.

I had a 2008 CTS when they first came out. We paid $45K for it. With a 304hp V6. Your CTS has aluminum suspension parts because it lacks the LS3 under the hood, and costs more than a Camaro does when equipped with identical engines. The V6 Camaros with the same 3.6L engine are in the mid-$20K range. Your CTS is a good $10-15K more car.

I agree the Camaro should be lighter, but some of you guys make it sound like 12.9s stock is slow for $33K brand new. With the Brembo brakes, independent axle, MUCH better interior, LS3, dual exhaust, HID headlights, factory cowl hood, Bluetooth, etc.... all of which are better than the 4th gen.

Keep in mind that loaded WS6's and SS's back when they were brand new were also in the $28-32K range new. That was over 10 years ago now. If anything, that makes the current Camaro SS an even better value than the 4th gen was at it's time.
