Last time i had my 2010 ss at rpr it went 12.62@112mph on a 2.2 60' . only mods it had at the time was a roto fab cai and that was it. On that run i was up against a stock 5.0 with paper plates his car went 13.3 @ 106. at the time i wasnt very impressed with the mustang as everyone claimed it to be a mid 12 car stock. Need to get the ss back out there soon as it has quite abit more done to it now.

Same DA and same track I ran on, when I first bought my 2010. My car was 100% stock, down to the air pressure in the tires (37 psi). I only made 3 passes in this car, it was fairly consistent.

5th gen is relatively easy to get down the track, it only uses 3 gears. The launch was the most challenging on the silly 275 tires though. I could never get a sub 2.0 launch.

Video of the PlanetLSX.com project 2010 Camaro SS on its first visit to the drag strip. Date 06/12/09, Houston Raceway Park, 88F temps and +2,301 ft Density Altitude. Raceweight was 4,045 lbs. Camaro was 2 weeks old, with 1,200 miles on it. Zero modifications, as delivered from the dealership. 2SS/RS model with 6-spd manual transmission.

Cold air intake and catback should be good for 12.9s no problem. Just get some seat time in the car, you'll probably even do better than 12.9s.

What was your point with this? I claimed they run mid 11s with bolt ons and they do. Reading is one thing, reading comprehension is another. I suggest you brush up on the latter.

Given the information on the two cars in question that will be going to the track and racing, my previous post stands and the Mustang should easily hand the Camaro its' ***. How about they go to a road course afterwards and see which car runs a faster lap?

Nope, just heavier. The power-to-weight ratio is a little worse, nothing more.

Yes I guess you can not comprehend either. The camaro is right beside the 5.0 with bolt ons. The mustang went 13.19 and my camaro went 13.25. Again why do people think they are so much faster?

5.0 and 5th gen is simply a driver's race. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just a magazine nut-swinger.

Same for bone stock LS1 f-bodies and 5th gens. They are nearly identical under identical conditions. From a roll however, the LS3 will pull on the LS1 slightly. Again, a driver's race. I know many people on this site like to claim that LS1 f-bodies ran 12s all day bone stock, but the fact is that back in 1998-2002 that only about 10 of us on this entire site had run 12s bone stock. I was the second one to do so. I ran two different LS1 f-bodies down to a 12.85 but with stellar weather conditions. The "norm" for most was 13.1-13.3. Getting a 4th gen into the 12s stock was very uncommon. On my first track visit ever, in my brand new 98 Formula, was a humbling tire-blistering 14.1 LOL. I logged over 1,000 passes in that car along the way....at much quicker times.

this.

Stock for stock from a roll however the 5.0 should take the Camaro easily seeing how it has a better power-to-weight ratio.

Mustang: .1063 ptwr
Camaro: .1091 ptwr

It isn't much but it would matter from a highway hit (not real racing)

These are both rated on curb weight to hp.

They aren't.

Our red Mustang GT (on all-season Pirelli P Zero Nero tires) matched the Camaro SS's blast to 60 mph by hitting that speed in an identical 5.1 seconds from a standstill with the traction control turned off (4.8 seconds with 1 foot of rollout). But the quarter-mile took another two-tenths to complete with a slightly lower trap speed, 13.3 seconds at 107.3 mph.

That's a razor-thin advantage for the Camaro and, just to throw in some additional ambiguity, we also tested another Mustang GT (this one in blue and wearing summer tires), which ripped to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds and blitzed the 1,320 feet in 13 seconds at 110.6 mph. That's the kind of razor's edge that can be measured in microns.
That trap speed is the difference hence my highway race post.

True, but from the information gathered on his buddies' time and his, it looks like the Mustang should have it easily. Hopefully the 5th Gen yanks him off the line and holds it though.

I've seen the 5.0s run mid 11's at the track with bolt-ons, I'm not talking out of my ***.

I think it's because the 5.0 responds VERY WELL to mods as does the Camaro.

You need to look at the fast list for both cars and read the mods that are done to both. I had a 108mph and a 109 mph out of my car but the et was slower then my 13.25(wheel hop).
