You bet .. Thinking a twin turbo 6.0... I did have the awesome idea of yanking the ls1/auto out of my 98 WS6 though. I've done the LQ4 swap twice already, first time took 8 months and was a failure, second time around took a week of part time work and it runs fine. I can knock it down quick now.

Here's a video of it.

that t/a is real nice, would be a pretty hard decision for me... my "first" car was a '79 6.6l t/a but at that time i didn't have a drivers license... when that time came i woke up one morning to find it missing... my jackass stepdad sold it, said it was too fast

That's cool the first car I did was another 1980 bandit car, had a heads/cam 400 in it, had a hell of a good time in it but couldn't afford gas with it's 6mpg.

The one I have now has a 6.0 on it.

I wouldn't worry about the paint unless it has rust under it for right now. Instead, I would be more worried about changing out that horrible dash and steering column.

That interior makes me want to puke. Go back to stock dash/column/wheel ASAP. And some nicer seats.

I don't like the color at all, black would look better as long as the body is perfectly smooth.

+1, interior sucks. Paint and body looks good, but I don't like the color. If you are going to pull it apart and re-spray everything, go for it. If you are going to half *** it then leave it that color so it's consistent.

Leave the paint just the way it is and add the SS badging to the grill, fenders and rear. The paint looks very nice from the photos which can be deceiving.

I had a '70 SS 396 in high school ... original 396 (402), Muncie 4-speed, black w/gold stripes and interior. It was actually pretty stout for the day. Before the Chevelle, my first car was a '67 RS Camaro at 15 yo ... 350, Saginaw 4-speed, white (some bondo) with Ford Competion Blue stripes. It was an original RS with hide-aways. Damn .... speaking of wishing I still had those cars. I paid $2,400 (1980) for the Camaro and $3,300 (1981) for the Chevelle. Oooops ... showed my age there didn't I?

Keep the paint, keep the interior (for now) and do the 6.0 swap. New paint won't pay for itself when you sell & most buyers may want to repaint THEIR favorite color anyway. The interior swap is kinda cool, but all a matter of individual taste. I've seen the GTO swap into a 69 Firebird on here that rocks, but some would not like that either. Did it get a new wiring harness with that interior? Does it have A/C? You may have to go to a Vintage Air unit, so you can remove factory airbox to make room for that turbo.

I'll ask, I think he wants it to be his next project though. Body is perfect and has a 440. Think $5000?

It's good money and fun. Nothing better then enjoying something, then making $1,000 or $2,000 4 months down the road while moving on to another car. I usually only sell something when I get tired of it.

paint and body looks good. if it is indeed that would be last of my worries. my first would be to change out interior. a classic either original interior or if custom, one of a kind one but definitely definitely (i did say that twice not an import one). i like them custom wheels you want to put on. looked on camaro, t/a and will look nicer on the chevelle because i believe it has wider wheelwells allowing a better fit. a modded 6.0 would need to be in that chevelle and n/a would do for me. after everything and last, i would strip completely and repaint black with silver stripes for 2 reasons. 1 is i have seen one with 18 in grey torque thrusts and it looked beautiful. 2 the silver stripes will go great with them silver wheels. lots of potential there in that classic. personally, i like the 70-73 camaro in the pics.....good luck.....keep us all posted.

My 72 is black with white stripes, vinyl top, and chip foose wheels. I love the looks of it and I see more red, blue, or tan chevelles than black with white stripes. If you like it now, leave it. You can always paint it later.

I say paint it back to it's original color & swap the interior with SS parts. Who would think that a Legend's dash would fit?? LOL!
