considered dumps off the headers....opinios??
ok so ive considered running a bullet off each LT and having the dumps kicked out to the sides. maybe add a litttle pipe off the headers then put the bullets on. or a true dual setup... but i like cheap and effective lol
right now i run a Y into a single dumped bullet. But imo the car is to damn quite and i really dont like it. i do daily the car.
would i lose power or tq in swapping over to the dumped long tubes?
few people had said no dont do it cause of back pressure loss. but i've read that billion page long debate about that

Im on manifolds but have the y dumped into a 18" dynomax bullet.. sounds decent but not loud enough imo. I was thinking about doing what you want to do but havent found a vid of it to make me decide. My guess is it would sound awesome.

I had a trans am with that setup about 5 years ago and didn't like it at all. I would say spending 300ish for an xpipe setup would be worth it. I had the ypipe on my current car and it was to quiet as well. You could sell your setup for 150ish and use that plus another 150 for a true dual setup.

From what I heard the people that do it switch back very quick..
As for the back pressure loss ... might want to keep that down I can't tell you how many people will come into the post and try to school you on this topic ...

may even try to get a x closer to the front of the car and just dumping the mufflers off the x

if you do go that route, you'll want at least 6in or more of straight pipe off the headers. reasoning being your O2's will freak out and start dumping fuel b/c of the air coming up from behind it.
for a n/a setup you could argue that a y-pipe (or even better an x-pipe) setup is more ideal b/c you are creating a scavenging effect. it draws the air out of the exhaust faster. which is another reason why n/a motors like a lot of overlap in a cam b/c as the intake valve is opening the exhaust valve hasn't closed yet and the exhaust valve helps pull in air through the intake valve.
which is why turbo cars don’t like a lot of overlap b/c you'd be blowing your boost out the exhaust valve...
but ya'll said you didn’t want to get into that sort of talk

thats why i was thinking of running a section of pipe to maybe get it back to where the dumps would be abut midway..... say halfway point of the door on each side
