Unhappy Winding noise on my Trans Am *WITH VIDEO* please help!

Ever since we bought our Trans Am, it's had this winding sound. We took the car anyway because it did not affect performance. It is an auto tranny.

Everytime I accelerate, it winds up and when it deccelerates it sounds like it winds down. Please see the video. You might not hear it very well since you can hear it better in person, but you can hear the winding when acceleration starts.

Try to listen very closely when he accelerates, right at that moment you can hear the winding. It shifts fine.

Sounds like radio interference noise to me? Does it have an aftermarket radio? Sometimes a bad ground or power wire run to close to the alternator can produce that whine. If not how about the rear end? Differential IOW, they are notorious for whining after being launched a few times on the track or street.

LOL no we're not worried about the rattling. Apart from the natural acceleration, you can hear something winding...

On the street and no we don't drive it hard. LOL yeah this winding is kind of bassy, not too much. I'll try recording another video during lunch. Maybe I can capture the sound better.

Well it sounds like it's coming from the rear-end of the car. But I notice when I sit in the back seat I don't hear it as much. Probably because the acceleration muffles the winding sound.

Should I just replace the rear-wheel bearings since that sounds like where it's coming from?

I's start with the rear end lube swap with Friction modifier first. Easy to do and insurance that it has been done and you know it's been done. A wheel bearing is also another possibility for sure. Put her on Jack stands and rotate the rear and front wheels and see if you can pinpoint it.
