Started the V6 to LS1 motor plus adding turbo
Ok last Friday started the V6 to LS1 motor swap. We gutted a clean V6 with a locked motor. Motor, trans, rear end and everything we did not need in a little over 2 hours. Sunday we tackled the LS1 car doing the same but took closer to 4 we were less in hurry and had guest including wife asking why we were doing it. And the car will be getting a rear mount turbo installed while we are at. Will try to post some pics later to show progress.

Its best to start with complete cars, drop the K member, motor, trans and computer. And change fuel pump. We haven't started going back together yet. It was kinda weird taking apart a running car and now I got to figure out what todo with the Z28 roller.

It has some dents and scratchs I'm sad too say the main reason the motor is getting swapped cause I want TTops and didn't want todo paint and body work and I got the V6 kinda of cheap and it was pretty clean inside/out. The worst dent is in the rear where the fuel door is, one front fender has a crack as does the front bumber, hood has been painted black. The car looks good from about 10foot and away actually took it to a car show last month. Would make a great race car.

Ya I know it is better for racing but I want a fun DD that can go to the track. Weighed car rite at 3400 with stock wheels and full tank of fuel. Ran a 12.4 w/ET DR on stock wheels and 100 shot. Can't wait to see what a turbo will do to it. Ps turbo is gona be a rear mount from a dodge diesel. Gona name new car Project Bootleg 1.5 since its the same running gear.

I had been debating what to do with it ever since I bought the other car but last night I found I had a head gasket start seeping so now that's a little extra money I have to spend. Yes I will sale it as a roller now. It will have everything but motor-trans, computer and harness. If you want I can post some pics up for you.

i did this swap a couple months ago on an 01... let me know if you have any questions. beware of INJ2 wire on fuse box, it is not pinned on a v6 fuse box but you need it on a v8. I got a new fuse box and all wires from an 02 just in case.

Ok, time for a little update. Thanks to everyone that mentioned the INJ2 wire, and fuel lines. Got the motor into V6 car it runs and drives had a few lil hick ups but nothing major. gas peddle needed swaped, broke shifter cable when removing V6 motor from car, and the steam line got moved to water pump since I used the V6 raditor. And hopefully I will get to start mounting turbo this week. Found some really good deals on Ebay for turbo needed items hot & cold Piping, wg, intercooler, bo and this & that parts.

FYI, if you were looking at that niffty Godspeed hotside piping kit on ebay, I would not recomend it, buddy here that's building his car ordered it and the piping from the passenger side runs straight into the block where it's supposed to come through... I ahd a feeling that was going to happen by just looking at the pics...
