Parts:
RadioShack® 1/8" Stereo Panel-Mount Phone Jack
Model: 274-246 | Catalog #: 274-246
$2.69

Speaker wire

Black Tape

Solder

Open the bottom of the radio and what you are going to be looking for is 2 wires that hook up to the cd connector

The two wires are going to be your left and right channel

Then you need to follow this diagram as far as hooking it up

Pin 1 - Ground - connect to the stereo chassis
Pin 2 - Left Channel - wire from CD connector on main circuit board
Pin 3 - Left Channel - wire coming from CD player module
Pin 4 - Right Channel - wire coming from CD player module
Pin 5 - Right Channel - wire from CD connector on main circuit board

Tape it all up and put it together

So does this kill the CD player?

Yes it is, it has all the connectors to simply plug it in.

If the Aux cord is plugged into the aux connector yes... if its not connected then no.... so if you want to listen to a cd simply unplug your aux cord and youll be fine

When you say CD Player Module, are you referring to the CD player in the radio? Or are the wires we are tapping into wires from the CD Changer Control Port?

Cool. So I see your wiring goes to the front of the radio, did you put the aux jack in the front of your radio?

Do you have an original write up thread?

This is the original post... The module is referring to the wires coming from the cd player .... Not the circuit board...

I used this exact model in my Camaro when I had it.

EDIT - Links don't seem to work, but go to Amazon and search Pac Auxpod/ipac-oem Ipod Interface [universal]

Worked flawlessly and even cheaper on ebay, works in any 00-02 model that has the AUX port on the back for a CD changer (if u have a CD changer u have to disconnect it) it's very simple to use and works great. I may have it somewhere I don't have a need for it if you want it let me know.

The one I linked doesnt have the harness, so you will need to order that as well.

Problem.

The circuit board in my 2002 headunit looks different, anyone know which wires I tap into?

Look at the electronics section. There is a thread that's about 19 pages long that is linked to by a sticky.

Yes cassette player will work. Has to be from. 98 or newer though if I remember correctly.

For the 2002 there is also a link to do it

I connected to the same wires, apparently the left channel wire is black on some of them. It works like a charm.

If you have a cassette player, I'd just buy one of those cassette ipod players. I have one for my landcruiser and it works right. I'm interested in doing this to mine, however, I would rather do the cassette option, but my damn hu doesn't have one. 2000 trans am...I need to look up the cabling setup to see if it's like the others otherwise it's time to enjoy an o-scope.

Well, I have an 02 with a single disc player in the deck. NO disk changer in the trunk. Is this still possible?

Just tap into CD circuit on board in radio and wala I saw someone do it....

I have this one and it makes it so much easier. Total plug and play, plus it charges the iPhone/iPod. As mentioned, the steering wheel controls work, which was the main selling point for me!!

Can this be done to a '99? Or do I just need to find a newer deck?
