Love all the haters on a watch when most of us grew up with posters on the walls of exclusive vehicles. I doubt anyone here would ever say that they had a boner growing up for a minivan because it gets you to soccer practice just as well as a Ferrari.
Like Tony mentioned it is noticed by upper level employees and in my line of work, that is important. I also consider it a better investment than any car part. How many of you have bought a Flowmaster, used it for a year then sold it for at least as much as you paid for it???

When I'm interviewing candidates for the same position, and a few of them are wearing $75 Fossil watches and a $100 suit, I can tell you that the other guys that showed up in the $250 suits and nicer watches already have the edge, if you guys interview exactly the same. If the guy interviewing you has a nice watch on, and you don't - he WILL notice. Trust me on that one. I don't recommend pulling out any phones to check the time, during an interview. If I even catch a glimpse of your phone during that interview, you are screwed. Keep on walking.
If your boss has a nice watch on, and you don't, he will also notice. I know this seems vain and sorta gay sounding, but it is what it is.

Yeah thats "sorta gay sounding" I cant stand wearing any jewelry of any kind. If you are going to judge me on the kind of work I do on what watch I am wearing I dont think I would want to work for you anyways. But if I ever come in to your business for a interview I will be sure to rent a nice watch.

Its just one of those things that could give you an edge in an interview. You show up dressed nice and have a nice watch that catches the eye, doesn't hurt. Everyone that has ever interviewed anyone does base/judge at least a little bit on appearance. Might sound bad, but its true.

When I'm on the interview panel I'm more concerned about the persons qualifications, appearance and work ethnics than the watch their wearing...

Right. Don't comb your hair or shave either. In fact, wear your favorite Looney Toons tie, too.
Whether you like it or not, those interviewing you are judging you every second of the way. For those 45 minutes, you're there to impress them. The way you sit on different chairs, shake hands, react to their most mundane actions, place your hands, your shoes, every - single - thing gets noticed by an experienced interviewer.
There's a method behind it all, and you don't need to understand it, or like it. But for most desired and competitive jobs it's integral.
But you cool cats do what puts a smile on your faces. Personally, I love my formal watch. I need a new daily one, though.
OP- My buddy just bought himself one of the Movada Bolds, I don't remember which exactly, but a very nice watch. Very similar touches to yours. I'll be looking at picking up something similar after tax season.

Id think regardless of what watch theyre wearing if theyre checking it during an interview theyd get the axe. Personally I think as long as a guy is dressed well it shouldnt matter what tag is on their clothes or what name is inscribed on their watch. Glad Im not in your industry I think I have to tell you where to stick that overpriced watch if you told me simply because some other guys had a more expensive one that they were ahead of me. Pretty watches dont make money, good quality, hardworking people make money. It sounds very vain and gay if that truly is your rationale in how you conduct your interview of prospective personel.
But what do I know, I wear a 4 year old $130 casio gshock with a black metal band(I break rubber ones) that the finish is wearing off.

Now passing JUDGEMENT about the PRICE of certain watch or suit its another thing which is what is discussed here. You may not like it but its like that. If you are comparing the price of a watch as an equivalent of not shaving then perhaps your priorities are way different than mine.

A good made watch like rolex is an investment. Most of them do not lose value. http://www.vacheron-constantin.com/e...3172-000P-9236 Now these are bad *** watches. That is the one I am going to get. They make Rolex look like a Timex.
