Default Callies, Eagle, or K1?

Just wanting some opinions or insight from anyone who's ran their products, about to start my 408 build finally and am trying to decide on which rods and crank to go with, been leaning heavily towards K1 since I'm trying to do it on a budget..(not cheap)

Usually the cheaper cranks are offset buy the extra time required when you balance everything.

My compstar was a quality piece though

We just picked up our short block from the machine shop(westside performance). It's a 408 with callies compstar crank and rods with wiseco pistons. I can't wait to get it finished. It's gonna be a little while though

I have no personal experience, but have always heard good things about Callies.

I've been running a eagle forged crank for almost 7 years. Two different builds, same crank. 5.7 Scat H beam rods along with it.

I am running Callies Compstar in my 408 and it seems to be a quality piece and I would say its the best bang for your buck. Im sure it will handle anything you throw at it unless you are doing some crazy build with 1000+hp.

I've decided to go with the K1 crank and rods, they are partnered with wiesco, and have read a lot of product reviews and have yet to come across a bad one, weiso pistons will be going in as well... As far as the HP range I would be guessing it'll be around the 850-900hp range, just an educated assumption just by the results from similar setups... Maybe even a little less since I'll only be running a 78mm..

From first hand experience I can say the K1 and Callies Compstar are virtually identical when it comes to quality of finish and power-handling. Neither require any more machining or finish work before installing in your engine (other than the obvious balancing). Eagle however does have a past riddled with the need for extra work, and this is why we do not offer their crankshafts in our assembled short-blocks.

Let us know if we can help!

There might be others in Texas that can get K1, but I can tell you for sure none will stock the volume, or offer the pricing we do on it!

The eagle forged stuff seems to be o.k, the cast stuff is junk. I have Callies crank and comp stars in a 398" LT1.
