Default Radar/Laser Jammer - Passport 9500ci

So I have always wanted a top of the line radar/laser jammer but unfortunately they are VERY expensive for a good one. I was at a store similar to car toys yesterday and the guy told me that they just made them illegal in Texas a few weeks ago. Here is the Bill:

http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodo...pdf#navpanes=0

Here is what I thought was interesting- it is/will be (IDK if it actually did pass or not yet) a class C misdemeanor if you get caught with one on your vehicle. Which means that it will basically be the same as a speeding ticket. Only punishable by a fine not to exceed $500. So it would probably still be worth owning one because it will most likely save you from more tickets than you will get for having it.

Just thought I'd share. I still don't know if I will get one because as I said, they are very expensive and technology is constantly evolving so who knows how long it would be useful for. Anyone have a 9500ci or something similar?

Bill went into effect Sept 1st, 2011.

And if you're getting a jammer, Laser Interceptor is the only one worth the time/money.

A radar detector is still OK to have. A jammer hasn't been legal for awhile.

Anyone have a jammer or a scrambler? I've considered getting one but don't really know what's good. Anyone have any suggestions?

I've already got a good radar detector, but the added insurance couldn't hurt.

I'm only running a passport 8500. I catch radars and lasers with plenty of time to slow down.

By the time you get a laser alert, the cop already has your speed.

Not true. If you are on a highway and the cop is a mile ahead popping people the 8500 or 9500 will detect it far before you are close enough for the cop to pop you.

Yea but you gotta have perfect conditions for that. My Valentine 1 will do it but its very rare... especially in hilly areas.

That's how my V1 is, but some cops get creative. Wait for you to come over a hill, then turn the radar on and get you. That's where the added insurance would come in.

If he's using I/O radar, sure. LIDAR has very little scatter compared to radar, and 99% of the time you won't get a detection unless you're being aimed at.

Unless you're referring to Escort's new "Live" GPS thing. I don't think there's nearly enough users of that to consider it an effective countermeasure.

You gotta learn how to read the traffic. Brake lights over a hill, sudden right-to-left lane change, small blips of radar that increase over time... things like that. Laser is a muthabitch thou. I have yet to be popped by radar in 10 years. Laser.... 4 times.

Yea, the last time I got popped there wasn't any traffic or anything out. I've only had a radar detector for about a year and a half, this V1 is my first one. I'm pretty good about reading traffic and my surroundings. He let me off with a warning. I don't think he was able to get an accurate reading because I was speeding a good bit above the posted limit and hit my brakes pretty hard as soon as my V1 went off and I had spotted him. Usually I don't get warnings.

I speed everywhere and just look for cops and hope I don't see them. Anyhow it's been at least ten years since I been pulled over for speeding. (Knocking on wood.)

I've got the Bel STi-R Plus on my CTS-V. I love it. I had the Qi-45 (with diffusers) on my Impala & got hit by Laser a couple of times, but didn't get a ticket.

Laser is very tricky & as has already been stated, if you're being targeted, you're speed is likely already recorded. There isn't enough scatter to pick up a rogue beam.

I would think a laser jammer would be very effective on a Trans Am b/c don't they aim for a reflective surface like a front license plate or headlights, which a Trans has neither.

Although can they aim the laser at the windshield?
