It's really a moot point, but young was the adjective describing the money and not the retardedpenguin.

Huh. All this talk about credit makes me want to go take out a nice loan and get some Go-Fast parts I have zero established credit, not a single point to my name. I know it would be stupid to finance parts with credit, but man that is tempting

What's the downside? Aside from debt/interest.

Get yourself a low limit card. Run a couple hundred on it a month and pay it off. After a few months or so, apply for another card with 0% apr for 12-18 mo. Buy parts with that. Pay it off before the deadline.

creditcard.com, check it out.

You need credit. Unless you're going to pay cash for a new house, car, or furniture. Credit is not bad. Paying interest is not bad. Paying high interest on a high balance and making minimum payments is bad.

When people say high interest rates, how high are we talking here? 8%? 10%?

If you use your credit right you can make money with it. If I have 20k cash I would rather finance a car at 5% interest and keep the cash for buying and selling part/cars. I can usually turn that 20k into 30k in less than a year.

The only time I use my credit cards is when I get 0 percent interest and use the cash for other things. If it say 12 months interest free have it paid off in 11 because it does not mean 12 payments interest free.
