If you are gonna carry it get a revolver....Ruger SP101 is a great one....if you must have a semi auto I recommend Sig Sauer P220 .45...if you gotta stick with SW go with the .40, but Sig makes better guns

Does anyone have any personal experience with a Glock 22 .40? Oh, and apparently it doesn't come with laser sights, it's night vision sights. But it has been modded to have a lighter trigger.

I've had 3 22's, currently have one as a duty weapon along with the baby 27 .40 as well for concealed carry. They're a good all-around gun. I've never had any issues with mine. Most law enforcement officers carry the Glock 22.

G22 and G27. They work well, but aren't the best choice for everyone. I bought the G27 because I took the advice of a Glockophile (father-in-law) and it was a decent deal. Once I started shooting more and tried other pistols I found that other pistols fit my hands better, I was more accurate, and had less felt recoil so the G27 got sold. I later picked up the G22 from a guy I know that did the same. He shot the Sig P239 and like it a lot better so I bought his G22 cheap to resell. $400 isn't bad for a used one, but it isn't a stellar deal either. Again, go rent and shoot some and see what you think. Its like buying shoes. Some feel better than others an you don't know which fits best until you try them on.

Oh and they probably aren't night vision sights, but are night sights. Night sights have tritium vials that glow in the dark. Night vision are optics that actually help you see in the dark.

Personally, Id never own a Glock. I have HEARD fantastic reviews of them, but I have SEEN horrible reliability. Glocks have a very loyal following, and I know bout 50ppl are wanting to scream at me after reading this, but personal experience...Sig, ANYDAY over a Glock... I just dont trust them with my life. Hell, Ill put my 9lb Ruger P97DC against any overpriced Glock.

I feel the same way.

I find them "trendy" and because of it's now mass production, quality of a G4 isn't what a G2 or G3 is.

im not a fan of glocks either. the triggers feel like **** and theres no safety. i keep hearing rumors about local police departments banning their officers from carrying them because they have had too many shoot themselves in the leg

How can i tell what generation it is? The guy said it was basically brand new, but he may have meant it has barely been shot.

.380 AUTO in a tiny gun like a LCP is great. I'd pick that over 9mm. It would suggest .380 vs .40 for a CHL.

I've put over 1000+ rnds through my sigma 9mm with no issues. It would make for a decent cheap starter gun. I think mine's almost 10+ years old. The heavy trigger pull is the safety. It's not a gun for lil girls

My dad qualified for his CHL on it shooting an auto in the first time in decades.

Very easy to conceal and comfortable to carry. The newer tiny 9mm's would work well too, but are a little larger.

Nothing wrong with a 9mm. Shot placement > caliber any day. Do yourself a favor and rent and shoot different several types of guns. Go with what feels the best to you. Personally, I ended up going with an XDm. I also liked the M&P and Glocks that I shot.

One reason the S&W M&P 40 is a good choice over the M&P 9 is that the M&P 40 can be converted to 9MM Luger with just a drop-in conversion barrel & mags or converted to .357 SIG by only changing the barrel! If you go with the M&P 9 tho, you will not be able to convert to .40 or .357.

I have all 3 barrels for my M&P 40 and enjoy the lower cost 9mm at the range, but am usually carrying with .40.

So I got the glock, and I like it so far. One thing is that the night sights are a little worn, so I'm thinking of upgrading to fiber optic sights. Has anyone used these? How are they different than night sights? I already ordered a grip plug because that cavity behind the mag irritates the hell out of me.

Quick Reply: Getting a first gun for my CHL. S&W 9mm or .40?
