Default 96 TA Restoration

A couple of weeks ago I pulled the interior out to weld in a 6 point, and found some rust. I have started restoring the car, working from the inside out. After the interior is all done I'm going to drive the car for a few months in nice weather until I get my new DD, and then the car will be torn apart again to do the underside and body. Will most likely get a boosted lsx. Here is a couple of pics to show progress, and a link to the build thread.

The floor fix looks good, I was surprised at Tiagos and at yours OP, the floors on my 93 other than fuel pump door mod looked perfect when I pulled the carpet out. Car was daily driven and saw rain for quite some years but were still clean.

Thanks guys. Yeah it's kinda weird, but the t-tops leaked for my whole duration of beig in college, and I didn't have the money to fix it. Denton is notorious for raining a lot and flooding. It's weird tho, the back hatch area on the car flooded a couple of times in heavy rain but has no signs of rust. Seems backwards to me lol

I have done it, in the end more hassle than it's worth just to have the only difference being one is ebony and one is dark grey. To make it look right, it just nickel and dimes you to death on what you have to buy to make it look like a factory set up. To start you would need the 00+ dash shell it self, cluster-fog light trim, fuse panel cover, ebony dash cap, hvac/radio cluster bezel, both pillars along with a new glove box door. Then after you do all that, the console would not match, so you would need an 00+ console. And when you finally think your done, the steering wheel will not match so you need a 00+ wheel. When you do that wheel in a LT1 car you need at the very least the clock spring connector or the entire clock spring assembly if you want to keep the air bag working. That's hoping you had a car with a tan or neutral interior, if it was LT1 graphite it will be a shade lighter. I have done the complete ebony interior conversion in my 93, it's a nite mare if you want it to look factory like I did, it's best to source every thing from a single car. Graphite and Ebony can be tough to tell until they are right next to one another.

My first attempt looked like Ray Charles and a group of blind kids sourced the interior, "Hey Kids, what color is that trim piece for the sail panels?" said Ray. The kids replied "I don't know Charles, the guy said Dark grey." Charles then said, "Well did you check?" The kids replied angrily "We are ******* blind like you dick, how are we suppose to check colors when every thing is black because we can't ******* see?"

That's about how I figured it would go. I was planning on keeping it dark grey, having my rear seats recovered to match 6LE seats, get some black 6LE front seats, paint the roll bar black. I think the black and grey will contrast well.

Man I needed that laugh. I could so see ray Charles playing the piano singing that as a song. Classic
