Victoria Tx?? Just found out my work will be moving me to Victoria Tx.. Anyone from there?? Don't know anything about it. How's is it?? School wise for kids??family environment?? The people??if you know anything about this place your input is welcome thanks guys.
lots of places to eat... most everyone that lives there is there for work.. lived there for a while for work.. I didn't like it, no real nightlife, at least not like in Houston..

That's not true at all. Most people from there grew up there, like me. There are a lot of oil field people there but it's a nice size town with a small town feel. Schools are pretty good and there is some night life but nothing like Houston, Austin, or San Antonio. The best thing about it is it's two hours from a lot of fun places, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus, Port O'conner....

Victoria's getting to be a college town. Lots of kids from the surrounding counties travel here for school. Really nice place to live, especially if you like Tex Mex food and some hard core LS gearheads like myself and Kurt Decker (98Aggie).

I am in Victoria as well. Moved here for oilfield work. I have seen quite a few f-bodies rolling around here since I got here 3 months ago. I need to get together and meet a few I guess.
If you will regularly have family in from out of town, get a place with a spare bedroom. The hotels are WAY OVERPRICED because of the oil & gas boom.
My Hampton Inn room was nearly $300/night when staying there in January on business.

Nice sized town. Home where I grew up is only about 45 minutes south of there so victoria is the metropolis all of us from the sticks went to when it was time to go see a real city.
Not to far from schraeder hall either used to go dancing there all the time and tons of cuties out there. At least back when I was going out there hadn't been there in quite a while.
However the oil field has moved in so be prepared to have no where to live and get raped for a **** hole that I wouldn't let my dog live. Traffic is crazy busy and the police are like fleas now. At least in my hometown this is how it is. Those of us who aren't in oil field work or making money off it are sure ready for it to quiet down again.
