Mark 12:28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
When people use religion to castigate one group over another it irks me. As a Christian, your job is to love people as Jesus loved people. While I believe he may have meant it in a strictly platonic sense, the message is still the same. Treat others how you would want to be treated; with dignity and respect. Chick-fil-A workers have always been courteous and helpful when I was there, and the gay friends I have never had an issue eating there (knowing it was a Christian run business) until this whole debacle started. To my knowledge they have never treated openly homosexual people with anything less than professionalism and I don't see the problem. Oh, he gives money to groups who appose gay marriage? I could care less about who the CFA owner gives his money to. It's HIS money and he can do with it as he pleases. Other companies give to things I don't believe in, but I still do business there. Volkswagen, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, and Levi Jeans (among others) give money to gun control groups, but I wear my Levi jeans after picking up some B&J ice cream in my Jetta on my way back to my house and I don't feel the least bit conflicted. People have different views, get over it.

The big deal in this are the government officials saying his business isn't welcome in their cities! They are openly peddling their influence, and discriminating against his business, just because they disagree with his opinion. Someone spoke of the CEO needing to watch what he says out of respect for the people in his business he represents, what about these mayors? Its not ok for them to say or do something like that!!!!
Seems like a double standard when George Bush can base foreign policy on his belief that "god wants everyone to be free" but a mayor can't write a letter expressing his desire for everyone to be equal.

Did you read the letter? It was not a ban on Chick-Fil-A restaurants. It was purely free speech for partisan political purposes.

The Czar of Chicago said something similar. The mayor of San Francisco said they better not try to build any closer. An alderman of Chicago went as far to say if chick fil a doesn't come up with antidiscrimination policies(I wasn't aware that they discriminated against anyone) that he will block expansion in his district.
So two political figures strongly urge an american to take his business elsewhere, and two of them threaten him for it, all over an opinion. This is okay with you? Its the same thing if chick fil a actually did say homosexuals weren't allowed in their stores. Discrimination is discrimination.
This is being twisted by the left. The real issue isn't about homosexuality, they just want you to think it is, so in the end they can get what they want. The issue is about free speech. Someone said something, and people in our government said they can't say it, and levied threats against said person to bully them into changing their opinion. Chick fil a is not anti gay, and that support day had nothing to do with hating homosexuals or discriminating against them.

Bingo! The man simply stated he did not believe in same sex marriage. Nothing discriminating, hateful or bigoted about it. He is entitled to his beliefs and his opinions. We have a right to free speech. It's the gay activist and liberals who are practicing discrimination, bigotry and hatefulness through there city banning of the restaurant chain and through the college kids wanting to kick Chick off campus. They are the bigots and hypocrites with their very own actions. Bullying at it's finest.

The point of the whole Chick-fil-A issue is that the CEO expressed his opinion and right to free speech. He does not agree with same sex marriage. He never threatened the gays; he never said you cant work here; he never said you can not buy food here. BUT, the liberals and gays blew it up. Rahm Emmanuel used his bully pulpit to threaten the restaurant chain. The gays now have suit against him (Chick-fil-A). For what? Discrimination! Really? He did not discriminate against them. His opinion differs from theirs. They can work there and eat there all they want. Again, the gays and liberals preach inclusion, non discrimination, and freedom to practice their gay lifestyle; yet they are the ones discriminating, being non inclusive and spewing hate and bigotry. Get on with your gay life is all we can say?

To me its not really about what the mayor did, although I don't think he was right to even attempt to keep chik-fil-a out of boston.

What did Christ himself do with the money changers in the temple? Should he have gone along with it in the name of "loving his neighbors", or is this an example that we can love our fellow man, disagree with some of their choices and yes even assert our beliefs in life. Its like raising kids. You can love them and still be pissed off and disappointed in something they've done. Just because a Christian doesn't agree with homosexuality doesn't mean they hate the person, nor does it mean they can't stand up for their beliefs and vote their conscience either.
I'm convinced that if a muslim would have said it, the liberals wouldn't care.
There is bigotry in the US and it is against conservatives and Christians. We can't speak our minds without someone somewhere taking offense. I remember the democratic socialists claiming everyone who doesn't agree with Nobama is a racist. They have and still refer to the Tea Partiers as racists. This attack on CFA is no different. From what I've seen on the left, its all about freedom of speech for me and not for thee.
I also think that if the gays would call it something besides marriage, say domestic partner, most Christians wouldn't care. I also think we as a people have much more pressing issues and see the way that gay marriage has been pushed up front as a diversion tactic so we lose focus on the more difficult issues.

Wow, people really get worked up. Homosexuality is no different than stealing or killing or coveting thy neighbors wife. It's all sin and we're all guilty of one form or another. It's not for us to judge.
However, I definitely took advantage of another excuse to go to Chickfila. I love that place! LoL!
