Haven't noticed that about Chevron. Not that I really fill up there, anyway. I mostly use Kroger or QT.
Can't beat Kroger's pricing of Premium last Sunday when I was filling up my daughter's BMW. Plus I got the usual 3 cents off that price with my Kroger card. Too bad she only needed half a tank.

why the hell is their premium so cheap?

Yup. I guess they had noticed the mistake already and there was an attendant walking around checking the pumps while I was filling the tank and just before I left I checked the price again and it had gone up to $3.27.
In my receipt it was still $2.27, though.

Just a little info.
Kroger Gas is the same fuel you can buy at Chevron.
I spoke to a fuel truck driver one morning while he was filling the tanks at Kroger. (He came over while I was pumping gas in my '02 Camaro and we started talking cars)
Before we parted ways, he told me he was not supposed to disclose this information but he had just left a filling a Chevron gas station and I should feel confident I was getting premium fuel.
With the Kroger discount I average a $.30 less per gallon saving on 93 octane, compared to the local Chevron/Shell stations. Plus I put fuel injector cleaner in every few fill ups.
Do the math... $.30 x 13 gallons = $3.30 $3.90! (corrected)
It's not much but it's a savings nonetheless.
Right now:
Shell @ Fry Rd. in Cypress Tx. is 93 Octane = 3.799
Kroger in Cypress (290/spring cypress) 93 Octane = 2.269
I have spent over $200 there getting groceries so take an additional $.20 off
savings to be had today!

Well. I have to say, yes, as the driver said he had just left a Chevron gas station. I don't think fuel trucks are capable of mixing/managing additives during stops.
I would also suggest that the fuel is mixed at the plant before it leaves on its delivery rounds.
And he said "...the same gas because I just left Chevron."
