Anybody road race/Autocross?
I'm getting older and realizing that the more money I spend, the faster the ride is over. Yes I'm talking about drag racing. I wan to venture out in to road race courses and such. Does anyone here have any experience or can you recommend where to get started?

Not sure where you are in Texas, but lookup auto crosses in your local area. They're great fun, but you do have to stand in the parking lots in between runs to put cones back in place. The other option you have is to lookup open events at eagles canyon, Motorsports ranch and Hennessy's place in Sealy. World speed way runs a bunch of events as well, again, you get the idea, find local tracks and auto crosses in your area, and start running.
Do be aware, you will be changing how you spend your money on your car. You'll be going from "how to get more go fast parts" to "need brakes, need tires, need wheel bearings". It's just a shift in spending.

Today, at the Texas Motor Speedway, SCCA is holding an AutoX event. It's already began but it is BIG fun. The funny thing is that you don't need stupid power to have fun. I take my Z06 and am considering returning it to stock to play with the SS crowd. I'm in Super Modified right now and that field is small. Corvettes swing the range radically, lol one is in Super Stock and if you're Johnny Badass, you're in Super Prepared.
Best thing is that racing is happening in rain or shine

I do HPDE. It's not racing but it's a helluva lot of fun. The group I run with is Track Club USA. They typically get you 2-1/2 hours of track time per day. Some Texas clubs and groups:
NASA Texas
Apex Driving Academy
The Drivers Edge
Lone Star BMW CCA (You don't need a Bay-Em-Vay to run with them.)
Porsche Club of America, Longhorn Chapter (You don't need a Porsche to join.)
Eagles Canyon Raceway
Also check out the road racing forum.
Good luck!
It's kind of expensive, but it's awesome.

An HPDE is a great place to start. You have an instructor with you for at least a few events and they teach you the proper way to go fast around a track. I have done them with The Drivers Edge at Motorsports Ranch, Eagle's Canyon, and Texas World Speedway. Drag racing is boring after this.
TDE also does events at Harris Hill Raceway between Austin and San Antonio.
