Default Got rear ended and the guy ran

So I was on my way home yesterday and some dumb *** rear ends me. He was driving a nissan xterra with Texas plate #HPK 507. Whole rear bumper on my 09 c6z is fkd!!!!!!!!!!!! HPD told me they would look into the matter. When I asked them what that meant, the officer honestly told me I could save myself a lot time by just going through my insurance. Unfortunately I have a $1000 deductible. If anyone can help me get this guy's info, it would be greatly appreciated. I figure I can at least try to reach him before trying this so called "judicial system" I don't want to put it on my insurance but I also don't want a wrecked out car for the next 6-12 months................. Thanks in advance

Hope it gets worked out, but it's sad that even with the license plate # the most they can promise is they will look into it. Telling you to just handle it yourself through your insurance is also **** poor.

Guessing just running is the "smart" thing to do now.

You could file a Texas Blue form. Do you have coverage against hit and run? I did and didn't even know it. Think i had to pay like $100 out of pocket.

Hopefully you have un-/underinsured coverage. Saves a lot of headache and IIRC, the deductible should be $250 max.

Paying a visit to the address listed will most likely achieve nothing of value. There's a reason the person ran away...

Let the cops take care of the person and let your insurance company take care of your car and then deal with the other guy. Sucks, but that's just the way it is.

Try to get on their friends list, make post after post to get their attention. Then I would drive up to the PD give them what you have. If the PD still wants to be lazy...I would escalate the issue as high as possible. No service to the 'people' being done and the PD needs to do their job. All they had to do was run the plate, pay their house a visit. Hit and run is a felony, ridiculous.

I would definitely follow up with the PD and make sure that officer filed a report. I would also talk to a supervisor...I hope they go after her for hit and run. good luck

^^^^ you got that right....lazy bastards, got popped on 290 doing a u-turn at either 43rd or antoine...for no front plate though... They also like to sit at driveways off the feeder a few hundred feet from the exit ramp and pop folks exiting that have not slowed enough from hwy speeds... I am for public safety, but it seems hpd is only worried about ticket revenue these days....

That fkn sucks *** and pisses me off to no end. Not trying to steal your thread but.....
3 weeks ago I was on 59 north between 610 and downtown. This A**hole sideswipes me in the V and hauls *** (he was in a Volvo turbo wagon)lol needless to say the chase didn't last too long. I was on the phone with hpd for nearly 30 minutes following this db flashing my lights and blowing my horn. I passed three different officers whom all refused to even look over at us while the guy continued to run (at low speed). We ended up in front of South Houston police dept where he shot in there like a cannon raising a fuss that I'm harassing him.
I simply stated I was following him and had 911 still on the line bc he hit my car, The fat *** bastard swore he never touched me nor did we make contact. I just pointed out the damage which was consistent with my story and the f***er then said Oh he (I) merged into me (him). The officer took a report and told me to let my insurance co deal with it and that was that.
Lets fast forward to today 8/23/13, I was driving my semi truck on 610 just over the ship channel with the speed of traffic. As I came down the channel there sat sorry *** pathetic hpd on the shoulder taking speed. I was pulled over and cited for 70 in a 60 (yes I was doing every bit of 70 too). I cant bitch about being caught speeding but the fact that I was in a hit and run where they did nothing just sent me to the moon.
O/p just buy a new or used bumper cover have it painted and slap it on and save yourself a **** ton of frustration and higher insurance costs. been there done that, and F*** lazy broke *** hpd traffic division!
