Maaco in SE Houston area
I looking to have my Formula painted. The body is straight for the most part. It has a few dings here and there and a tenis ball sized dent in the driver rocker panel. The current paint is peeling and cracking.
I want it painted Cyber Grey with a black roof and sail panel.
I know Maaco used to have a bad reputation but I cant find too many bad reviews. Does anyone have any experience with them

Really depends on how much you'll critique the paint. I have seen a lot of paint jobs and I know what to look for so I personally would never be happy with a maaco paint job. Even the one above. However, for $500 that was a damn good job. My dad paid maaco I believe 3k to paint his jeep and it looks the same as that $500 paint job, it's a **** job.
The maaco jobs I have seen in the past have flaked off in a few months, and some didn't even have clear.
Edit: NOT at maaco but...
There are some pretty decent paint jobs out there for around 1500, but even those will be lower quality paint and clear. For high quality paint and clear expect to pay $2500 and up. That's been my experience anyway.

No, the Bear creek one is off of Clay and hwy6. The 1960 one is closer to Willowbrook. To me Macco is just a name, it's a franchise, so they're a in and out business. But some really do good job with the higher end paint jobs, it really depends on the experience of the sprayer. It's not going to be a show quality, but driver quality. I wouldn't take my Vette, but I'm thinking of letting them shoot my'55 Ford truck. Good luck, L8R DFLASH

The Bear Creek location has done several cars for me- all with good results if you don't go into it expecting a 10k paint job for $199. Unfortunately Chuck (owner) got stuck in a constant rotation of employees and their work really suffered. They did a car for my friend and it really came out rough. The last car they did for me before they shut down was my General Lee.
I heard they re-opened but with a new owner.

Def go somewhere else and spend a little more, but get much better results.

Don't get me wrong- you can pick it apart if you really try- but restoration shops tend to want 15k to paint a car and there will still be flaws.
Let me talk to him and see if he minds me sending out his info- he wants to stay small and has a rotation of a few collectors that let him work on his own schedule. Still- he might appreciate the opportunity.
I want to get my 66 GTO in line but he's too busy!
