Default Car audio installers and equipment

I've been out of the car audio game for years now so I'm looking for advice. I want to do a complete overhaul of my 99 TA's sound system. Is Car Toys any good or overpriced ? Do you recommend finding a local mom and pop shop ? As far as the equipment, is Fosgate still decent for speakers or is there something new I should be looking at? I'm telling you it's been since the 2005 since I've even thought about car speakers.
I'm always up for suggestions on shops in Houston .

Got a pair of door speakers and tweeters pulled from my race car if you want to save a few bucks. If interested I'll dig them out of the pile of audio junk in my garage.

I think Car Toys is over priced. They should do excellent work for their prices. Have you though about doing everything yourself? It's actually real easy. It will save you a lot of cash and you will know a good job was done.

Thanks 383z. I just had surgery on my wrist so I'm out of commission for a few months.

I'm still a Fosgate fan. Have an amp with with 2 10'' Punch in my Suv for 12 years now and still thumps. Not sure if their quality is the same now but I know they use to build quality stuff.

Wait it a few months. Save the money and do yourself. I order through Crutchfield. They give very detailed install steps..

Focal is damned hard to beat for speakers. I prefer pioneer head units and Fosgate subs. As for installers, I use wire cutters and maximum effort, but I have no complaints about car toys.

I have a complete set of CDT Audio speakers I removed from my 2002 Camaro. I would assume its plug and play but not positive. If interested send me a PM with your contact info.

Hey. I have all Kicker speakers and a10” sub. I use a JL Audio 5 channel amp with a Kenwood double din head unit. Sounds really good and I have about $1,300 in it. Fosgate is still a good choice. My ‘86 C10 is all Fosgate and it hits pretty good and is clean sounding. What town do you live in?

Focals from Crutchfield in my Trans Am. Wait till you heal up and do it yourself.
