Default Car culture in DFW eludes me

So am I missing something? I've been out of the racing scene for about 8 years while playing with ultra4 cars. Now I'm back into a racecar and cannot find any of the old groups I used to follow.

DFWSS and many other clubs I was a part of before Facebook got huge have disappeared.

My suspicion is that many have gone invite only to keep snitches from infiltrating the ranks, but without any contacts I am at a loss for action. Where is everyone hanging out in the metroplex? Do the Arlington meets still happen? Last time I attended it was off Maydield and 360.

all the racer kids these days are on fb and insta, and also I think that whole crowd (dfwss) just grew tired of the high school shenanigans at meetups and just quit announcing meets. invite only. I know they are still at it, because there is fresh tire every once in a while (big tires, no honda) on a road by me in north ft worth.

That's what I was thinking. I figured it went to a discord server or something and became a lot more secretive. I know they are still at it because videos end up on the internet a month later.

Head east from DFW if you want car shows - I can't help you much for street racing. The Carthage, Marshall, Paris and Kilgore areas of Texas have active car shows throughout the warmer months of the year. Belton, TX is also good if you can head south.

It's all IG/ FB nowadays and also private meets as mentioned above. Waco has a Sunday Cruise kinda thing and I think there is going to be a recurring cars-n-coffee there as well. Also in Waco, there is a car show every month weather permitting hosted by 95.7 radio station.

PM sent

A lot is just via text groups and whats app groups. Many have left the street scene for the track. Yello Belly is popular as hell, partly because its as sketch, or worse, as the street half the time. XRP, so far is a lot nicer and safer for faster cars imo. To give an example, big show nitro cars have ran at XRP before the Ennis national event. That aint happening at Yello Belly. Theres also kind of an odd separation in DFW where racers north of 30 and south of 30 rarely ever hang out together outside of an actual race. its not set in stone, but lets just say its obvious to people who notice that kind of thing. Check out those two groups, and as you get to know people, you'll starat falling more into the loop of things.
