Just posted my engine up for sale on Hotrodgossip.com and it didn't show up in the main index. So I posted it up again thinking something weird had happened. Well, I try to refresh the page and it says that I no longer have access to the page. I called up Joe Golden, the owner of Hot Rod Gossip.com, to see what was going on and he says he doesn't like people posting single space ads on his site and that he would rather have them in paragraph form. I politely apologize and ask him if he would allow me to make a correct post so that I can sell this motor. His reply: "Thanks, Goodbye!" and rudely hangs up. This is a pretty classy guy if you ask me.

Joe is his own worst enemy.
Several folks have offered to help him with the site. There was an offer to help him get in on to Vbulletin (like most other "modern" sites). He refused any sort of help to improve the site.
Joe pretty much makes up his own rules as he goes along. Whether its racing in general, Clobberthon, his site, etc... There are a whole list of folks who have gotten crossways with Joe over the years for one reason or another, and in most cases its pretty ridiculous stuff. Joe has his own ideas about things, and if you are crossways with those ideas, you'll know it very quickly...
Anyhow, I wouldn't sweat not being able to post something for sale on a board like HRG anyway. There are plenty of good boards that support the Houston area that are halfway readable. I avoid HRG, as it is so painfully slow to load, it is almost unreadable, and there is no way to reasonably follow a topic...

Joe told me that he refuses to go with a modern style message board because he thinks the majority of his members wouldn't know how to register. When I told him he could just leave the forums open for anyone to post, even without registering, he seemed a little confused. Just shrugged it off, saying his format works great.
I only visit that site the day after a Clobberthon event, just to see photos. I don't really like messing with 10 year old message board software.
