Jet, you've never heard quickest or fastest in drag racing?

Quickest = quicker ET

Fastest = faster MPH

I would say quickest is ET and fastest is MPH. I can't wait to see some of these badass rides!

Ya okay I have heard of this before, but I think when it comes right down to it, that the person with the best ET wins, the Fastest is one that is getting a MPH higher from spinning, would be my guess.

So technically ya I have heard of this, in drag racing. Question which one do you want to be the Quickest or the Fastest, I would want to be the one in front, could care less on the MPH.

Thanks BigBronco, you are correct. We never got a solid hit down at Thunder (on nitrous) We made 2 motor passes and went high 10.30's @ 137. I made one nitrous pass and lost battery voltage (weak alternator) therefore I lost fuel pressure and leaned out and lost a head gasket. On that pass, with the F.A.S.T. datalogger on, it showed that I was 100% TPS (full throttle) for 4.8 seconds before I let out.This netted us a:

1.32 60 ft
3.61 330ft
5.701 660ft
101mph

Somewhere between the 330ft and the 1/8 mile the head gasket went south.
The 101 mph clearly shows that we let out before the 1/8 mile since I hear that most were going about 125mph at a 5.70. So does the 4.8 second 100% TPS. We were very happy with what it did on that pass even if it did let a head gasket go. We really had no idea what was in the engine when we got the car since it came with the engine already installed. We are now aware and we have made quite a few changes to it and it should be ready by next Monday.

In no way are we claiming to be the fastest right now but we sure are going to try when we get it back together.

It's good to see that we do have so many LS1's in Texas putting down such great numbers. All of you guys have done such a great job of doing what it takes to get these kind of numbers.

Just remember that Powells' car still has all of the a/c and heater stuff in it, power steering, all speakers, door bars, ALL interior panels, ALL stock body panels, stock brakes, ABS, and no wheelie bars. To make a long story short, it's a PIG! I'm not sure if everyone realizes that Chris' car uses a NOS Progressive nitrous controller. You can set the amount of nitrous you want to launch on and set the final percent of nitrous you want to use with an amount of build time from the start % to the final %. We are only launching on 37% and coming in to 80% with a 2 second build time. It will only get faster from here. Especially with some new tires

Jeff, if you can somehow arrange it to where all of these cars that we are speaking of will be running at the same time, that would be amazing. I would be down for it.

The goose went 5.700 at 123 in the 1/8 and 8.90 at 153 1/4, and the race weight was 3180 with driver. Let me remind everyone that it had a stock computer and hydrolic cam. The reason the car went so fast is because of the car and chassis itself. I would definatly say that if PAIN'S car would have stayed together it would be the fastest and quickest.

All I have to say is this summer is going to be very interesting

This summer is going to be very interesting for everyone else. I cannot wait to see all the cars running. I'll lead up the back of the pack of 8sec cars Maybe by then I'll come across some extra $$$ and possibly through me a BIG thumper on the car, but I highly doubt that

Very nice, we went 9.23@149.1 on a 1.37 60ft, the 1/8th mile was 5.90@119. Hope to see 8's this year.

Maybe we should have the top 5 fastest ls1's if there is a such thing, and everybody throw some clams in a pot winner takes all.

Have all of you guys forgotten about Judson Massingil's Orange SS. It ran 9s NA 2 years ago and it's even nastier now. Don't know if many will be able to outrun him, at least on motor.

It should run a 9.1x once the motor comes together. He might scrap the LS6 project and go right for the C5-R stuff though. That would be interesting.

Not to take anything away from the awesome SAM car but that car really wasn't much of a drivable "street" car like some of the 9 sec. cars are here on the site. Jerrico tranny, high compression (race fuel only), big bump stick, very light "race" car with all the goodies...Would love to see a C5R set up in that nasty ride...

It's just as streetable as all of these other racecars. When you consider most of these cars have 2 speed powerglides he's not doing to bad. And Jud's car weighed over 3,400 lbs. It's no pump gas car, but it's not even close to being as radical as some of these other guys in this thread.
