We can always have Mike tune it with a rev limiter of 4000 rpm and a top speed of 90 so he can't get into trouble.

Yup, drag strip is brutal on the M6 cars unless you have a 12-bolt rear end and a stout clutch. Most fun I ever had with that car was on the AutoX and on Texas Motor Speedway. The majority of the modifications I did to it were specifically for road racing (all the suspension and chassis modifications). After I had headers, dual exhaust, etc., which netted around 420 FWHP, I did not get near as much enjoyment out of it because I kept having to spend more money to fix things that broke (clutch, rear end), and had to take it back to MTI more than once to get the tuning right, which is why it all went back to stock under the hood. It got to be a pain in the butt wondering what was going to happen next (and now we know all to well what the next thing was for it - a bolt through the piston that could very easily have happened to me had I still been driving it ).

A forged, bored, stroked, low-compression motor and Twin Turbo was my dream setup for that car. Who knows. With the right amount of schmoozing, I may yet have that twin turbo some day. We'll see. Meantime, it sounds as though Mike is taking good care of you. Maybe I'll drop a bolt in the Vette so I have an excuse to upgrade. "I don't know why it shakes, dear. Must be a loose spark plug wire."

Might have the age but don't act like it unless I do not want to be disturbed.

Brad, just call him "big poppa".....

Boos2, Brad hasn't had a chance to enjoy the car yet. Since he's owned it, its been broken longer than drivable.

Vince, I missed y'all on the Corvette cruise this past weekend.

No, I didn't, really. With the G2 swaybar on the back, I had to grind down one of the edges of the TA cover to keep it from scraping. Good luck getting a 9" on that thing.

And remember all the trouble you had on your installation?

And, Brad, sorry I didn't get much chance to talk to you the other day. I was at Chipotle ordering a barbacoa burrito (love those!). But, to answer your question in more detail, yes, the longtube headers scraped on speedbumps and on steep driveways. They hung slightly lower than the front crossmember. The 3" Y-pipe scraped the worst, though. When I went to the 3" true dual, they tucked up in the axle housing nicely and didn't scrape near as much. You could probably get by with 2 1/2" pipe on the Y-pipe, though, to get better clearence. I was designing the system with twin turbo or some form of forced induction in mind. Mid-length headers would do nicely for what you plan to do. Anything is better than the stock '99 manifolds.
