Knock Sensors Bad??/
Knock Sensors Bad??/ Well my engine light came on today as it sometimes randomly does so I didnt think anything of it. But this time my car idled kinda rough and it wouldnt respond at all when i went WOT. I've heard that when knock sensors go bad they can retard your timing, any truth to this?? Thanks

Ok juss finally borrowd my friends scanner........im throwing Knock Sensor failure codes....so I guess i need new knock sensors....anyone know where to get them, or are they dealer items?? Thanks
should be like 25 bucks or so at the dealership. I think 98 uses a different one though so make sure you get 99-02 (i dunno why but for some reason i'm trying to remember this 
) Do you wash you motor any? Chances are you got some water down in your knock sensor valley and it just corroded it up. And yes, if you have a faulty knock sensor it will automatically pull 4 degrees of timing till the problem is fixed. If it's #1 it's in the front, if it's #2 it's rear one! Easy fix, but a stupid one... 
Also, while you're at it, a good way to prevent this from happening again, is to RTV around the knock sensor caps. And also take off the foam pieces under the intake, those keep moistue in if it ever gets there!

Txhorns - I worked last weekend. I'm leaving Friday for vacation, so the next two weekends are out....looking like middle or end of June before I'll have a chance at your HP Tuner!!

I don't think even missing sensors will cause your engine to quit running, but I haven't tried that.
