Quick question for you guys. My wife and I will be flying to Ft.Worth in a few weeks to pick up a Mercedes S500 and then driving back to MA. I haven't been down there since I was a kid so are there any recommendations on a few quick things to see on our ride out of the state? We're been driving on route 30 towards Little Rock.
Oh yeah, I like steak so I wouldn't mind eating one while I'm down there!
Thanks!
Tom

Well, you could detour on I-20 through LA and check out the casinos. Casino Magic in Bosier City was my favorite up there.
There really isn't much to see once you get out of the D/FW area. And steak places are all over the place. I haven't lived up there for about 5 years now, but Saltgrass or Texas Land & Cattle are usually pretty consistent. If you really want to go over the top, look up Del Frisco.
If you're into amusement parks and roller coasters, Arlington has Six Flags.
If you want to check out the drag strip, you can detour south to Ennis.
All depends on what tickles your fancy.

Del Frisco's looks pretty good! I put that in my Texas folder I wish I had a week to take the trip. I figure it's about an 1800 mile ride that I can do in a leisurely 2 days. I'll add a 3rd day for stops so I don't feel like I just jumped in the car and raced home. 6 Flags is a possibility or any other cool "points of interest" along the road. I'll have to come back someday and spend some more time down there.

Tom,
Don't forget our local flavor, Tex-Mex is some of the best eatin in the world and you can find it just about everywhere in these parts. Stick with Del Friscos or Bobs Chop House for the best Steaks in the world.

Del Friscos is the best steak period. Go there. If your comming with your wife to pick up a Benz im not sure theres gonna be anything worth seeing. As was said, 6 flags, Ennis 1/4 mile, TMS, all these are far apart and not really worth seeing IMO.

If you're a Dallas Cowboys fan you can take a tour of Texas Stadium in Irving. You can go to the Cowboys website and get the details there. You get to go into Jerry Jones' private suite, in the stands, the end zone club, meeting room, locker room and lastly on the field. I did the tour a couple of years ago and it was fun. I didn't realize how much Texas Stadium has slipped though. I'm glad the Cowboys are building their new home.

3 Forks is top notch also. The Anteries is the revolving ball on the Reunion Tower, the food there sucks.
