Default People settle down...

We've been through hurricanes... I swear to god the mass hysteria that follows any major disaster is not needed. I think we've been through a hurricane or two. Right now they are predicting it will hit matagorda.. MAYBE!! Who knows it could vere south. I will be here through the storm, with my truck, jet ski, and with Mark and his airboat helping incase something ACTUALLY happens bad..

New Orleans was alright the night of the hurricane.. Thats what people do not understand it was damaged, but not that bad off. It was late that night that the Levee broke and then the major flooding began...

My question is guys and gals.. where is our Levees... oh wait we do not have any. We have had major floods here and people reacted ok. If you feel you need to leave then please do.. Nobody is stopping you, but my parents have been through every hurricane and tropical depression in Houston since 1948, which almost none of you all can say.. And they have never left once.. So think about it that way.

yeah, I'm not too concerned with anything but electricity going out and having flooded roads temporarily. If I lived in Galveston however, I'd be packing right now.

Exactly Tony! You've lived in Friendswood for the most part of your life right? My cousins, who are now 36 and 39 grew up here... Went to the highschool here, etc.. They never left one time (asked my uncle yesterday).

as i said in the other thread:

====> lets also all remember not to freak out too much.

This is NOT going to be another New Orleans.

Houston is well above sea level, and if anything, we'll get some flooding, high winds, and maybe some crap knocked down. Driving around today I saw everyone and their mother freaking the hell out, but lets keep it together and if you hang onto common sense, everything else will be fine. Unless it gets real real bad, I am planning on riding this sonovabitch out. Yes the lights will go out, maybe no air conditioning for a while, but it's really not the end of the world like a lot of people are acting.

My biggest gripe is the client I'm working for now has no idea what disaster recovery means in terms of Information Technology. They think that moving all their servers from one building in Houston to another will solve everything. NOW they suddenly realize why that's a bad idea.

Also the 5 day cone streches from Mexico to Mississippi right now. So it could be anywhere in there.

I live under this (see pic), so if this thing strengthens, I'm not sticking around to find out if any of those limbs (or trunks) snap and come through my roof. Plus, I have a 19 month old.

Completely understandable, but Ross, you are not freaking out and acting ilke a moron. People need to sit down, take a deep breath and get back to what they were doing in a civil matter.

Mass Hysteria is all I have to say. My family survived Hurricane Alisha back in 83/84 when we lived in Galveston.

LOL! I haven't been out much in the last couple of days since I work from home now, so I haven't gotten to witness the battery collectors, ice savers, and random people shitting their pants.
