Default Please help...

Ok, so I messed up! I was running late for work and not paying attention... would not have been given a ticket for speeding as I was going the posted speed limit, but the little yellow lights (that never flash) happened to be flashing that day for the school zone.... got a ticket for 40 in a 25 in a school zone.

So my question is: can I take defensive driving for this or should I fight the school zone issue (since the lights never blink, and they officer wrote the ticket stating that I was heading north, but I was actually heading south)

Please help..... I didin't mean to speed in a school zone, I would really like for this not to hit my insurance.

First off, judges are very intolerant of speeding in school zones, so you might be out of luck on that one. But one thing to think about is almost all, if not all of the schools in Houston are closed until tomorrow, so you could argue that you knew the school was closed, and didn't think the school zone speed applied.

I agree about the Judges. Even though the lights weren't flashing, I'm sure there was a sign posted somewhere stating it was a school zone. What you should have done was pull out a pistol and cack that pig while he was writing the ticket. That would have have taught him a lesson!! Take the Defensive Driving...MUCH CHEAPER than paying the ticket!!!

I dont think you can take defensive driving for school zone tickets but I'm not sure. Also i think if you are going 15 or over you cant do DD either(could be up to 15 mph over though).

I would defer it.

Get a lawyer to take care of the ticket!

Peace,
Craig.

Get a lawyer and it will probably stay off your record. you will have to pay fines.

DD is for up to 25 over. I'm just worried about the in a school zone thing.
