a belt can look perfectly normal and still squeak, and nothing can fix it except changing the belt.

It might be your idler pulley. My car did the same thing a while back the bearing's go bad on them, you might want to pull it off and check it out before going out and buying a new one.

If i was gonna play e-mechanic, i'd ask how many miles it had on it....and say that the water pump is about to start leaking worse (may take some time)...and have to be replaced. keep an eye on the coolant level.

Try holding a bar of hand soap to the ribbed side of the belt while the car is idling. Try to hold the bar in the same place at the same angle till the belt has worn deeply into the soap - this way the entire rib will be coated, not just the very edge.
My truck always squeaked till I did this. It would go away INSTANTLY and sometimes came back when the belt was splashed with water in the rain. After awhile, it never came back.
Worth a try, right?

Oh yeah, be careful, and I take no responsibility for what you do to your hand.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be the alternator. Take your belt off and spin it to see if it makes noise.
