Anyone know about Chevy trucks?
I am selling the Camaro and looking to get a single cab, short bed Chevy pickup. The thing is I want it to still be decently quick, I dont expect 13's or nothing. I was thinking of getting a 5.3 but this guy I know told me that the 4.8 is the way to go because it revs quicker? Anyone have any input on what motor I should get? Any options to look for? Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys.

Between a 5.3 or a 4.8 which route is the way to go? I am not looking to build a parish truck, I just want a sleeper daily driver truck.

I had my cam only Crew Cab 5.3 running 14.2's in 90 degree weather. Had I not traded it in a few weeks ago I could have gotten high 13's
Granted not terribly fast compared to a modded f-body, but fast enough to catch a few mustang gt's off-guard.

My 2002 Z71 is completely stock. Yes, it's a dog for the most part, but what do you expect from a brick with wheels? If I were going to build up a Chevy truck, I'd find a 454 SS. That, or find a turbo diesel.

My '00 reg. cab stepside 5.3 auto would hang with most of the modded 4.6 GTs up until about 55-60 with just a K&N filter and a 2chamber Flowmaster. That was with heavy 20" wheels. Had to pop the hood twice to prove I didn't have a blower or nitrous. The stepsides weigh less too, so that'll help make it faster.

My 4.8 rc with mods in sig ran a 14.9x before the tune good for .2 maybe. Its fun to see the hemi guys left in wonder... I would say get the best deal on any 4.8,5.3,or 6.0 and go from there
