you could go with some MAC mid-length headers....they'll give a bit of a gain, but will still allow some ground clearance (more than LT's will...)
i personally want to just keep the stock ride height and get LT's, then add a gfx kit (not a ricey one....maybe one like the RS kit, or possibly the Xenon one)....that will give it that lowered look, but still keep my ground clearance.

I am pretty sure there are a lot of people with long tubes that dont really scrape the ground too badly. Just drive carefully, almost every car bottoms out at some point. I have QTP 1 7/8 headers and my car is lowered 1 1/4 and i dont ever scrape the headers, the y pipe on a rare occasion but thats it.

headlight: fixed
Traction control switch: Replaced
Idler Pulley: replaced (not the cause of noise)
AC Pulley: replaced (pesky noise!!)
Master Cylinder: replaced (not the cause of clutch prob.)
Slave Cylinder: replaced (twice....defective new part)
Drivers side rear speaker: Replaced (was blown)
Tips : Added for looks!! sweet!
Oil: Changed
Hood: Repainted due to oxidation
Cost for me??? Nada, Zero, Zilch, Zip, & Nothing!
on the 3rd gear shift at over 6k rpm.. the clutch pedal sticks on the floor..... It wont go into gear.... under redline it shifts fine.
They go above and beyond to make the car as close to new as possible! I am very pleased!!!!!

Yeah i wouldn't be too concerned about ground clearance with long tubes
Kenny Brown dropped with Hooker LT's and i'm just careful and don't have any problems
but there are 1 or 2 entrances/exits around here that are just horribly inclined that i don't go to, but that's fine by me.
