Default Help! Charged with street racing

I have to go to court on Friday. I was charged with Racing. Class B Misd.
I was not racing, the cop clocked me at 28mph. But he said that I and the truck next to me were racing. My car is loud, so was the truck, so I guess it looked like we were. But anyway, what do I do now? I called one lawyer and the cost was $1500! There is no way that I can spend that much money. Does anyone have any lawyer that they know does a good job? Thanks

Hmm I know a attorney. I take it that you are in the Criminal courts. I would think that $1500 aint nothing compaired to what will happen if you get convicted of such an offense. I know a great attorney, PM if you interested. Probably one of the best attorneys in Houston.

I would just plead not guilty...
Obviously, at 28mph, they don't have much to go on.

EXACTLY, this is not a traffic offense people, this is a CRIMINAL offense. Which means that spreacher is not in this league to defend against this kind of trouble. If you PM me I can get an attorney that will work out payments if need be, I can attest that if in fact that you were only doing 28mph and stuff, it will get dismissed. I would pay and attorney and get out of it, and not take a chance. I promise that the guy I use, is the best in houston. But to work something out you need to PM me and I can tell you his number and you can google him, but you will need to tell him I sent you, as to bring the cost down, considering he is a long time friend. I referr everyone to him, and I have not had one person complain at all. His name is Robert Fickman, check his name on Google, he has been in the news lately with a lot of his cases.

Get a good lawyer..I cannot say this strongly enough....the U.S. and Canada are taking this seriously now...1500 bucks is very cheap..if you are convicted, you will have a criminal record..there goes travelling later in life...you might not care now,but believe me,you will later.Having a criminal record is bad these days, worse than it used to be..computers have made it possible for all law enforcement talk to each other. If you are convicted and get pulled over for a stop sign or speeding later, the cop will know you have street raced....NOT GOOD....Good luck. [I just saw you said class 'b-misd'. are you sure about that?? it's very serious here now]

It's ridiculous. The light turned green, we drove, and then got pulled over. I thought I was speeding or something, I pulled over right away. Then the cop waits for the truck to pull over also, and he says that we were racing. The driver of the truck was drunk he got charged with DUI and Racing. I just got racing. I asked the cop what he clocked me at, and he said he clocked both of us at 28mph. I didn't bother arguing with the cop. The guy in the truck didn't even realize that I was next to him, so how can he be messing with me?Yes it is a class B, and Sprecher can not help me out.

Not a traffic citation, a criminal matter...thats why theres such a price difference.

Hey SAI, I can't remember but did you get taken to jail that day? Best advice is to hire the best criminal attorney you can get, they should put you on a payment plan. Good Luck.

get an attorney. my last street racing ticket i was arrested and all that fun stuff. i was in a parked car in the back seat, however the city didn't have a spectating law....not that there was any racing going on to spectate, but....

regardless, three out of four of the people in the car were charged with street racing... took it to court and the only one in our car who was found not guilty was the female... the guys in the car behind us (same situation) got a lawyer and had the case dismissed in under 5 minutes...

subsequently, i just recently got arrested for a bad check i wrote in 99 for $30 to walmart.. got a lawyer, dropped a good bit of money on it, and not only did i have my case dismissed, but my record was completely expunged ... after less than a minute.

sure it sucks this happened, but the worse thing you can do is leave it up to the system to right inself..

good luck..

Damn that sucks, I was going to say Sprecher. My advice is to get an attorney like everyone else has said. Yeah its expensive but its worth the money. Not worth suffering for 10 years for some retarded ticket that you say was undeserving. Work some overtime and pay an attorney

Stupid tickets
