Default Thinking about floating the Guadalupe River...

Anyone been this summer? All the reports say that they are only releasing 49 CFS which isn't even high enough for "recreational tubing" that is 100-499 CFS. I don't want to go if it is going to suck ***.

It sucks if the river is moving slow as hell and there aren't any rapids. I'd rather go out on the lake than float a sluggish *** river.

I floated over Memorial day and it was low but not too bad. Its been a while but we had a blast. Floated the horseshoe with no problems.

true, i like going out there more when its quicker, BUT its still fun, you can still do the same things, its just moving slower. are you going out there to float the river for rapids, or get drunk and meet some girls?

I floated two weekends ago and it was incredibly slow. It took 4.5 hours to float HALF of the river. There was probably a total of about 100 yards where I had to get up and walk. Still fun though!

My brother floated 2 weeks ago and had to paddle all the way down the river... if they didn't, they wouldn't move. So yes, floating on the river when it is low and not flowing can suck... even if you're drunk and with women. Being with women would make it worse because you'll have to hear them bitch about having to paddle.

The locals float the Comal river, but don't go if you plan on floating the Guadalupe. They haven't got any rain there and most of it has to be walked. I went on Memorial Day and it was low, then went a couple weeks ago and it was even lower. The banks almost meet at the horseshoe. Also read the paper where they were planning on banning beer bongs and jello shots.

instead of floating, put a bunch of lawnchairs along the side and sell cigarettes for a buck a piece. sit in the river, get drunk, and see all the hotties float by.

How long does it take to float it? From what I remember reading, it's only like 3 miles long right?

i have no idea how long it is. but we float for about 1-1.5 hrs. but sometimes we go float it again since the walk is pretty short.
