128,000 original miles, still going.........
We all know that domestic cars are not very reliable and usually don't last as long as the imports. My 2000 LS1 Camaro has over 128,000 on the original motor. Is it just me or am I too excited about having a Chevy with so many miles and so little problems. Don't forget, this is a motor with a few upgrades in it to add some horsepower. I will mention the fact that I am a true believer in routine maintanance like oil changes when they are due. Does anyone else out there have a high mile LS1 that's still driving healthy?

I actually have 145,000 on my 2000 SS and she still runs as good as new believe it or not. I had a ’98 WS6 in my younger days that I didn’t maintain as well. I can remember that at 70k it was burning oil and the dipstick was pretty dark and dirty. I ended up having to get a new motor installed on that car soon after. I’ve maintained this one much better and have had zero mechanical problems, it doesn’t appear to be burning any oil either so I would say proper maintenance goes a looooong way. Congrats!

i'm a firm believer that any car will last forever with the proper maintainance. my old black 88 had 171k when i sold it and the worst problem it had (non rust related), was replacing the alternator and the waterpump.

yeah my 96 LT1 made it 145k miles on the original opti (one of the reasons i dont believe a lot of the hype about how crappy it is) and it was still running high 13's with maybe 500$ of mods at the time, anyway my cap and rotor went out at not to long ago and i went ahead and pulled the motor and had it rebuilt along with a few mods
