oh and i just talked to my insurance agent, and they said my car was only worth $8000? y is that? i fgured i could get at least $10000
I think 41 is normally max or 51....so yeah a little too low for me just my .02
sorry to hear about the car .. extremely glad you are ok .. good luck is a nice thing .. cars can be replaced.
as for the pressure, 26 psi is low. under inflation is horrible for a tire's wear and safety ..
running a tire 15% too low can result in a 30% decrease in the life of a tire 20% low can result in over a 40% decrease. 25% low can be over a 50% decrease in tread AND sidewall life.
running at 26 PSI when 32 - 35 is recommmended is running 20% to 26% low.
hope this didn't come across as preachy .. it was not meant that way at all ..
.
Tires typically don't just blow out. Especially Z-rated tires. They are usually underinflated, or worn out, or aren't in good shape. 9 times out of 10, blowouts are caused by poor maintenance. The rest would be running over something.
j/kseriously .. that is why they give you an inflation target based on COLD tires..
I have only ran BF Goodrich G-Force KD's since late 2000, and I will only run those tires. You can't expect Z rated tires to last 25k miles, most don't unless the treadware is like 400+.
About every 10 degree's + or - is 1psi + or -.
Peace,
Craig.
Never take their first offer. They'll low ball you every time. We had a gray market (Euro spec) BMW that the insurance low balled us on because it was gray market. Only offered us $1500 for it, which was less than we paid for it about 4 month earlier. I just did a little research on the US equivalent and their next offer was $3500 which was more than what we paid for the car. So check out KBB.com and see what the market value is. Don't be afraid to tell them their offer is too low.
Tire issue sounds like poor maintainence.
thanks- cody
