What's the cost of living in Texas as in rent, food, taxes and available jobs? Im planing on moving to Ftw area because California is to overpriced and has gay car emission laws.

a little north of dallas - nice 1 bed apartments 450-650 month, new 1300-1500 square foot houses around 80-100k (payment around 800-1000 a month). jobs, all i know are trucking jobs and they roughly start at $12-15 an hour.

California has the highest cost of livin' in the US.

Texas is ranked in the middle I think. BUT, think of it this way...no state income tax baby!

Local sales tax is about 8.25%
Median income around $35,000 annual
Average new home cost around $200,000 but many available for much less.

Our new neighbors relocated from Southern California late this summer and said the home they sold for $900,000 back in Ca. is about the same size, age and condition as our current home which is only worth about $170,000 here in North Texas. That should give you a cost comparison idea between the two states.

I think New Jersey is the worst. Highest taxes in the country. I feel sorry for these folks. They'll buy a 60 year old shack for 500K and they think they're living good. Couple more years till I'm back home.........................
