Need Good Shop In Conroe Area!! Hey gang,
A buddy of mine that lives in the Conroe area needs a little help for his '93 'Vette. He was pushing it a little a few days ago, up to about 120MPH and noticed a ticking sound the next day. It got progressively worse and he parked it a day later. He's got it a some place called "Frank's Corvettes", but they are telling him it sounds like the bottom end. They're also trying to sell him some takeoff heads and cam (lt4, I think...) and charge him $5k for the parts and install.
First of all, I think we all know these motors are rock solid down low. I personally think it sounds (by description only. I haven't seen the car) like a bent pushrod or a broken valve spring.
Second, $5k is outrageous for takeoff parts and an install.
Can someone help him out? What do you think the problem sounds like and do you know of a shop in the Far North Houston area that would take care of him?
