Emissions Checkpoint
I was told that if your vehicle fails an emissions van test, they take a picture of your plate and mail you a notice. Once you receive the notice, you have 30 days to take it to any emissions certified location. The vehicle must pass and then the place will send a notice back to the Department of Transporation. If the Department of Transportation does not receive authorization of a passed emissions test, you will be fined or denied future registration.
NO my auto instructor did say they will send you a ticket. I ran across one in my old LT1 Threw it in N shut her off fired it up and went about my business..Cleanst running LT1 they have ever seen..(smelt?)

they dont issue tickets!! they send a notice to whoever the vehicle is registered to and they have a certain amount of time to get the vehicle repaired [inspected] and it must pass or they can deny you your registration at the time for renewal

Its one of the those white boxy vans. You'll see cones leading up the the van on each side of the lane with one of those cameras on one side and some other prop on the opposite side.

Well has anyone ever actually got a notice? Or does it only pick up if it's real bad and smokin or something?
Yeah everyone I know with those kinda issues just shut em off as they drive by em' and fire them back up after a safe distance away. But as far as I know they send notices and ask u to get it inspected within a certain time period. Other than that I have no idea

my dad got one going thru a check point!! plus i do inspections and my trooper informed me on how they work
