Thumbs up HRP on Superbowl Sunday

Anyone headed out to HRP this afternoon? Gates open at 2pm, so you can still get plenty of racing done before the Superbowl starts.

If you are there, you will get to witness a fun rivalry series.

2006 LS2 GTO 6-spd (stock)
vs
2006 SRT-8 Charger (stock)

The GTO belongs to me, the Charger belongs to our other Admin, "Brains". We will be video taping the matches, and switching vehicles. Also, Tiffany (Zangel) and my wife will be racing and then switching vehicles too.

This should settle any disputes about who is quicker, since the GTO guys claim they never lose and the SRT-8 guys also claim they never lose.

We plan on arriving at 2:30pm. Probably will be there until 6:00 at the latest.

Look for the bright orange GTO and the black SRT-8!

Tony

Mopar or no car!

But, on the other hand, GTO FTW.

I may bring out the '02 Firehawk too, since it is also 100% stock. Curious if it runs as good as my '99 SS did when stock (12.84 @ 104).

I bet the GTO wins. Better gearing, a bit less weight.

The guys only got two runs in because of track issues. SRT-8 won both times. We might have some video up later.

Hey, I won the 2nd race! Brian was napping at the light. Had we left at the same time, the SRT-8 would have blown past me.

GTO = suck *** wheelhop. Can you say 2.5 60' time on the first pass? lol It even wheelhopped on each upshift, including 3-4.

Both of us ran our best on the 2nd run. 13.9 GTO and 13.3 SRT. GTO went slower when hot, SRT got quicker when hot.

I saw both of your cars out there this evening. Did'nt realize that was your cars though. Both looked really nice, ya'll were parked right beside me and my buddy. I have a Mystic Teal Z28 and my buddy has a black 67 Impala big block.

Yeah, takes a little practice and to get the launch down on the GTOs. A little more seat time and you should be able to spank the SRT8. Good luck!

Time to bust out the BMR catalog and pick up some anti-wheelhop components. If you don't hook, drag racing sucks.

Actually, you would be amazed at what a set of drag radials will do for it. If you eliminate the wheel spin you wont have any wheel hop. I put 245-45-17 Nitto DRs on my 05 6spd and had absolutely no wheel hop.

I ALMOST came out today.

My friend bailed, and I wanted some cheese-dip.

Its really still inconclusive, since the cars are so new and we didn't get the opportunity (ie. number of passes) to really wring out the best in each car. Nonetheless, here's a quick and dirty video of the "action" If we can actually get some passes down the track, it'll be more worth while to actually edit down the video so it looks better, rather than me just stitching together a few clips

http://video.ls1tech.com/video/6cccf...cc0003b15a.htm

The Charger weighed in at 4200 lbs. plus myself, for a grand total raceweight of 4380 lbs. The fuel tank was pretty close to empty. Both cars were just shy of 3000 miles on the clock, and both are stock down to the factory air filters. On my "in-car" video clip, I snoozed the light BADLY -- gave the GTO about a 7 tenths head start with around 3 MPH over the GTO, I was slowly catching up.

I was there tonight and saw both of ya'll cars, didn't realize who it was though. Ran my own personal best tonight. The track was hooking, but only got 2 runs in because of all the issues.

those are both really nice cars

too bad you could not get some more runs in.

my buddy at work has a very nice blue 05 gto, with a few mods, and some nitto dr's and a few suspension mods that really helped him out with wheel hop.
