Default in-dash navigation/dvd

im gettin one installed but all the places such as tweeter, car toys, and best buy install it where it only plays dvds while in park or with the parking brake on due to saftey and laws. i know there is a way to bypass that but need some info on how and who does that. thanks

I had the Pioneer Z1 installed in my wife's awhile back and have the same complaint. Supposedly you could do it with older systems but was told the newer ones use gps and if the car is moving you're out of luck. They told me as of right now no one has come up with a way to bypass it.

I work at Best Buy doing installs and for the pioneer all you have to do is put a switch on the ground and switch on-off-on and give it a few secs. and it should pop right on.

I thought that was with the old style systems? I'm taking my car in tuesday since my amp went out and I'll be sure to find out.

Mine did that but I got around it... all you have to do is run the ground wire to a metal piece on your car... mine runs out the side of the dash and then I have a metal screw screwed in to clamp it into the frame.... makes it think that the car is in park all the time so I can do this while driving... just find a mom and pop shop and they will do the install.... tell them to leave the wire hanging and you will ground it yourself.

A friend of mine put one in his truck. He called the manufactuer and told them that he was putting it in the back of a limo and they told him how to bypass all of that crap.

I had one of the older models and grounded the wire that was supposed to go to the parking brake to some metal in the dash.

Just take the wire that is supposed(SP) to go to the parking brake, it should be labeled, and ground it with the ground for the unit its self. That what I have always done and it works like a charm.

you cant bypass it by soldering it or grounding it or putting it on a switch, you have to remove the void seal and flip the switch underneath it. I have a AVIC-n3 and have it on a switch but have not yet flipped the switch under the void seal. You can buy new void seals on ebay for like a dollar.

Which Best Buy? I want to have an overhead DVD installed but I want to know if it will work with my stock 07 ford expedition radio options.

As to the post, why does one person say the wire can be grounded and another say a switch has to be flipped inside the player? Which is right?

Ground the wire that is supposed to go from the unit to the parking break.
