Exclamation Did you know...legislative dollars at work

I am on the forum all the time, but I rarely post. This however touched off something inside of me that forces me to chime in. Also, I feel obligated to bring it to our forum's consciousness (if it hasn't already been brought up).

Seems the law makers in this great state needed something to do one day, so they thought they should conjure up another loosely worded vehicle for discretionary citations.

Check this out.

Here's a pdf illustration.

Our license plates are ugly, that is why I just get personalized ones instead. For $40/year more, they look better.

I got pulled over in my C6 for having an LS1TECH license frame. This was with a personalized plate, the frame wasn't even covering anything on the bottom since it is white down there. Pretty gay, he wrote me a ticket just for that frame.

I wanted to pound that guy in the face, he was rude about it too. Barely even spoke english (Asian).

I'm pretty sure this has been a law for awhile. Maybe 2-3 years? Big Brother is past the slippery slope and this doesn't really surprise me. Stop light cameras, license plate frames, and the book value tax on used vehicles are simple ways to increase revenues. It is not for anyone's benefit save for the lawmakers.

so according to this, a bumper type towball blocks the plate... so it's illegal to tow anything in TX unless you have a Class IV hitch?

When this law went into effect (about 2 yrs ago or more) a news team went to city hall and a police department and took there cameras into the employee parking areas and found a bunch of cars with licence plate frames. When a cop was leaving the station and getting into his car they asked him if he new his plate frame was ilegal and he just mumbled something and drove off.
