What are our cars realistically selling for?
What are our cars (modded) realistically going for right now? Selling a car is a pain in the *** and I'd much rather avoid the hassle of selling the car by parting it out and trading it in on whatever I get next unless it I could realistically expect to get my money's worth out of selling the car as is.
So what have you or your friends sold your cars for, or what did you recently pay for a your car. Thanks

a lot of it depends on the car - I bought a 98 Trans Am w/ Ram Air hood, no working a/c, lid/cutout/borla w/97k miles, a4 & needed brakes but new paint & great interior for $6700. That was over a year ago. Just a few months ago, I paid a little over 15k for a true mint 38k 98 WS6 Convertible. It had a cam, stall, catback & lid. Condition (cosmetically and mechanically) and mileage seem to play huge factors in these cars.

i could see your car selling for no more that $16,000, its sucks theyre a dime a dozen now and unless theyre garage kept with less than 20K miles they wont grab mucho dinero, good luck with the sale. what are you trying to pick up a smoke gray dodge 2500 on 20's?

Their worth what some ones willing to pay, there getting to be like how Fox bodies were 10 or so years ago, people want them and they are willing to pay for a clean car that hasnt been whored out. How ever you get a lot of people with modded not so clean cars wanting a ton for them. My friend just bought a 01 Z28, dead stock 28K miles, for 14K, the car is mint. Condition and mods play a big factor. You can get high mile stock cars for cheap, I have had a few friends that have gotten those cars, they end up being peaces of **** that havent been taken care of and have all sorts of things wrong with them. You'll start seeing more and more of those as these cars get older, which they have. But I think 4th gen just like the foxes were, that will be that some one is always willing to pay more for a clean one. I know which 4th gen LS1 I want exactly and will be willing to pay for it to get a clean one if the opportunity arises to get the one I want.

I don't know and don't care. I'm not selling mine..ever. I'll beat on it at the track every now and then until my son turns 16. Then he'll get to beat on it some more. Then we'll do a restoration job on it in about 20 years.

This may help, I paid $11k for the 02NHRA, and $6800 for the 98z. Bird was bone stock, 50k miles and in decent condition, and the Z is in good condition and was slightly modded when I got it at ~90k miles.
Oh yeah, got the bird in Sept 06, and the Z last month.

About 1 yr ago I bought my '99 HO Z28 fully loaded 6spd with ~62k miles for $12.5k. Car was almost mint on the outside, ok on the interior and mechanically stock except for a STB and mobile 1 oil cap (and oil). It was the exact color I wanted at a price I could afford and I would have paid considerably less had I known it was modded extensively.
99% of the population will pay LESS for a car that is modded, and a LOT LESS if it was heavily modded and/or raced.

I'll give you $50 for it right now!
I'm sure you could sucker someone on ebay into buying it for $13k, but with those miles...hmm...I'd have to say around $11k would be the most you can expect.

I got my HO SS for 11,750 about 1.5 years ago with just under 80k on it. I wanted this color so i spent a little more than what i have seen some SS's and various other fbodies go for. Mileage is a big factor as is location. If the car is in an area where fbodies are popular (pretty much all over texas) the price will be slightly higher. I got my car outa Arizona, Scottsdale at that. Most people in that area seem to have more interest in M3's and AMGs lol.

In may of 05 I sold my 98 Z28 M6 with 50k miles and light mods for 9500. The car was really nice, almost perfect paint and lived in a garage and was rarely driven. It only took me 6 days to sell the car at that price.
I bought the car in my sig for 5500, 73k miles in June of 06. It had the h/c installed, but the kid who had it let it basically sit for 4 years. Car ran and drove, had some small issues. I daily drive it now, but its not what I could consider a nice car. Its not in bad shape, interior is clean and intact, but there are some scrapes in the paint and some small dents...

for what it's worth, I bought my 01 SS Completely bone stock down to the air filter and factory tires, for 16k with only 13,894 on the odometer ... did that last march, and I've barely just turned 21k on the clock now... slightly less stock of course, but still.
good luck finding that in texas though, my car originates from a dealership in Washington State, was garaged, and was traded in for a lexus of some sort ... took me a few weeks to work the deal but I got it and had it shipped down as well, traded in my Scion tC ... haha. I made a killer deal with getting my SS, not everyone is so lucky I guess
